Can anyone answer a Question for me? (Moms and Docs plz... guys probably dont wanna read this... lol.)

If i had my head together i would probably find it somewhere on the internet, but i have a bad sinus infection and i just got my antibiotics yesterday, along with what's making me more loopy, the cough med with codine in it. Onto the question. Ok... i'm 36 weeks prego tomorrow (yeeeees.... the home stretch!) and i havent started leaking or even crusting on my breasts... i heard that's not normal. I dont go back to the doc until tomorrow, but i would like to atleast get an idea of what's going on with me before i go in and ask questions so i'll have some idea of what i'm talking about :) I cant breastfeed anyways because of my medications i take (they're getting upped after i have him, i'm on very low dosage of my Seroquel), but i would like to know that my body's working right. A bunch of my friends just had kids, 3 last month! and they all started leaking around 6-7 months.... i'm 9 months tomorrow and NOTHING. Can anyone help me out? yeah, i dont have to go thru the annoyance of it, but i would atleast like experiance it! gotta have the whole package when prego, lol.

I am pregnant with my fourth baby and I have never leaked with any of them. I think I might have 1 time with my last baby but other than that I never did! I produced plenty of milk afterward that I did nurse so you should be fine!!

I agree with Bridget, I leaked with my last 2 kids but not my first. Some people do and some dont.
i didn't leak until after my son was born. btw, you can pump until you are off the meds and then begin breastfeeding if your doc says that it's okay

Your body is functioning absolutely fine. But every body is different. I never leaked with my first baby and mostly it is after your give birth that this happens. So dont fret you are fine ...just relax and take it easy.

I had 4 children and not only did I not leak, I was unaware that it happened before you give birth. I do know when I went to work after my first one, when ever I saw a mother with a child in a stroller my breasts decided it was time to release. I had no idea that would happen.

I didn't leak from my breasts before my 6 babies were born, but if I gently milked my nipples, I could get the colostrum to start flowing before the birth. The actual milk doesn't come in until after the baby is born.

Obviously I have no clue what your situation is, but as a nursing mom, over the years, I've run into docs a few times who haven't always been right about medications and breastfeeding - usually telling me something wasn't safe, when it was, because they want to be extra careful, or there might be a safe/r alternative and they don't know that. I know my meds arent safe for the baby, they're for my bipolar and other stuff, and did any of yall even crust any? i dont even have that... :)

I didn't leak until the week he was born. I think it started on Monday, and I was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday night!

Any crusting from the milk happened only after I stopped breastfeeding. I used lanolin, during the breastfeeding months and long after my son was weened, to keep the whole area soft and supple and to not crack and split and dry out. That's the only thing my doc would let me use.
