it's GOOD trouble...but it's still trouble.
got an email from my Dean asking about my availability for next Winter semester - offering me what I had this time round.... 4 courses.... which I really, really, really don't want to turn down.
I love teaching. And once I give the relational database away, especially, I will never EVER get them back.
I also like the money. As in $80/hour or thereabouts... actually, now that I have a 4 year degree, I will be getting a raise. To be paid that kind o' $$/hour, I have to teach at least 3 sections (which is why this summer sucks; I only have 2).
When I met with the co-ordinator at Trent I specifically asked about working elsewhere, i.e. is it allowed. Some universities actually make you sign something saying that you won't - Trent is not one of them. He said then that he did not have any issues around it, and that he is aware of others that have done.
When I mentioned in an email recently, however, that I was looking at also signing up for some part time courses (they have an awesome Creative Writing program), he cautioned me about the workload in the MA program, and suggested that I would perhaps be better off to not do so. And then there are other gatherers, too, who are actually in grad school programs and who, I gather, would think I was INSANE to think I could do the MA program, plus also keep my old job at the same time. Especially since the two schools are ... um.... well okay...2 - 3 hours apart.
I know full well that the sensible response to the email would be "I'm sorry, but I will be in Peterborough completing my MA and will not be available"
But I DON'T WANNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I want to do is email back that I expect that I will have some scheduling issues, but if those can be resolved, I would be happy to do my 2 relational database plus probably only 1 section of micro apps (because 3 gets me into the money and can be done in 1 day/week)
If it is really not going to work, I expect I would known very quickly into the whole grad school thing - and I could bow out, if need be, then (at that point, my Dean will have retired, and the new one, presumably, will be in place)
At least I would be keeping the option open until I see the actual schedule for grad school.... is that reasonable?
HA! THE GATHER GODS ALMOST GOT ME AGAIN BUT THIS TIME I REMEMBERED TO COPY FIRST...TAKE THAT!

more power to ya if you can do it, but don't jepardize your schooling.
Roads could be challenging on occasion...but with Ross driving - and place to stay (here) if need be - and of course, always the option of cancelling a class - could be done.
No good public transit options though.
She figured - no problem with doing the same in grad school.
She called me the thrid day crying saying she could not carry the load and work too.
I made her call her grandmother and grandma, of course, came through.
One reason why this rocket scientist doesn't have an advanced degree. Good luck!
Do you need an assistance?!?!?!? I could do the prep and I would love to handle those problem students (HeeHee) , - $10.00 bucks an hour.....see you are still coming out ahead with $70.00 bucks an hour (See how cheap I am) LOL
Good luck in your decision!!!!
Flit, you always have decisions to make. Well, you always manage so I am not worried. You'll know what to do or not to do. And, it is very nice to be offered the positions.
Good Luck
