Becoming Jane

I was finally able to watch this the other day.  I've been wanting to watch it for a while, and I even made my husband suffer through this.  I love the movies based on Jane's Austen's writings and reading her books.  I especially love Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice.  I was curious to see what her life was like. 

It was interesting to me to see where she got some of the ideas for her stories.  I could see different characters from her life that I knew different stories were based on.  I thought that was so interesting.  I however didn't like Anne Hathaway as Jane.  I thought that there were people who would have been much better to play that part.  It's a movie that I think you should see once if you enjoy Jane Austen.  I'll probably even watch it again someday, but I have to say I was really disappointed in who played Jane.

I enjoyed Anne Hathaway's performance. I felt she fit the part. Of course that could be because I really like her as an actress.

Not a big Austen fan but I do like Hathaway and plan to view that one more because of the actor than the subject. I liked the Bronte sisters better for the time period and the subject. Glad you finally got to see it, Sarah.

I haven't seen it, but I've always enjoyed Jane Austin's works, especially Price and Prejudice. It would be interesting to learn more about her life. I'll have to watch it.

I thought about seeing this in the theater, but I am not a fan of that actress at all and she kind of annoyed me in the previews. So I have waited and am still trying to decide if I want to bother renting it.

I have been wanting to see this movie.. i'll have to watch it.. I'm curious what it was about Anne Hathway's performance you didn't like.. you don't think she played the part well, or you just don't like her to start with?

Yes it seems that they could have picked a better Jane. I liked her in Ella Enchanted. Jane Austen is a wonderful writer. Great review.

I absolutely loved this movie! I thought Anne Hathaway was brilliant in this movie, but it also really depends on your preconceived ideas of what Jane was like.

Anne Hathaway was a great Jane. And Anne is a great actress in general. I loved her in the Devil Wears Prada.

I really enjoyed Anne Hathaway as Jane. I think she's a wonderful actress. She keeps impressing.
