The largest immigration raid happened last week in Postville, Iowa.
Agprocessors plant was raided and about 400 illegals were rounded up and are now awaiting their day in court while being detained at the Cattle Congress Fairground in Waterloo, Iowa.
There has been a rash of picketers and backlash because of this. Not by the townspeople but rather by the illegals families that live in or around Postville.
The last I heard was that 196 of these illegals have been charged with identity theft, a felony, and they expect the rest to be charged also.
Now what is so unfair about arresting people for a crime?
Yes we do need immigration reform but in the mean time these people need to respect the laws of our country.
They come here illegally. A crime.
They stay here. Another crime.
They work here. And yet another crime.
Then you add a little identity theft in there. An even bigger crime. Now think about those poor people who had their social security numbers "borrowed" by these illegals. Imagine them trying to explain that their identities were stolen to some bill collector that has heard the same story 20 times that day. Except in their case they are not lying.
Then their is the expense in dollars as well as time and aggrivation to "prove" their innocence. No they didnt run up bills and not pay them...their identities were stolen. No they didnt commit major traffic infractions...their identity was stolen.
I have heard alot of talk about amnesty and invisible borders.
So if you believe in this are you also willing to share your identity with these people so they can come here "to better their lives?"

You want to hear a good one....a bunch of illegals got busted the other day in my area. They were found working construction on the new jail....Hahahaha!! Wouldn't you think if you were illegal you would want to be as far away from the police as possible?
I concur.
Now, explain to the native Americans why the Europeans have a right to come into this country and commit genocide. Explain why citizenship applications are HORRENDOUS, and unbelievably expensive. Explain what jobs that you or someone in your family have had stolen, and explain why it's O.K. to steal an island like Hawaii, name it part of the U.S.A., and do terrible things to the indigenous peoples there.
What it boils down to, ladies and gentlemen, is that we are the original illegal immigrants. Not only in "our own" country, but in any place we like enough to deem ours.
And we have far more important things to worry about, at this point, than keeping out immigrants.

John I wonder if you would feel the same way if it was YOUR indentity they stole? I am not denying that the things our government did in the past were wrong...very wrong but that was the past...we cannot make amends for things that happened 400 years ago or even 60 years ago. The world has been and will continue to be ruled by imperalistic nations and the US is one of the biggest....China invades Tibet....North Vietnam invades the South. Hell the Romans conquered everyone.
Did any member of the government borrow a Hawaiians identity? Did the government show up in Hawaii and expect the government to hand them food stamps and free medical care?
You are talking apples and oranges.
And they are criminals...the fact of the matter is that they are breaking the law...if you illegally immigrate to Mexico and if caught you are charged with a felony...thrown in jail and if you make it out deported.
Australia has tough immigration laws and no one complains and it was established as a penal colony by England.
I am not taking away anyones humanity...it is their choice to come here illegally and therefore make themselves criminals...they decide to used forged documents.....If I rob a bank or drive drunk I alone am responsible for my actions now why should I have to pay for that but yet these people commit crimes and it is inhumane?
As far as welfare goes, you do know that you cannot receive foodstamps without a Social Security number, right? And who, in the U.S., receives free health care?
I'm sorry, but it seems that your argument seems to be based on misogyny, rhetoric, and propoganda more than anything else.
John, citizenship applications are *not* horrendous!!! They simply assure that people are prepared for citizenship at least to some degree. Nor is the expense outrageous. The fees simply pay for the time and effort of all the people who have to work so the person can become a citizen. I have been involved in the process (managing a test center); I assure you that citizens do a lot of hard work during the process, and the person who wants the privilege of citizenship needs to pay for it.
I am so sick to death of the bleeding heart libs who sympathize with criminals.

I have offered my services as a sharp shooter to patrol the borders. I am only 77 years young.
If you want to be proud of that, if you think that makes you a "good American", I'm at a loss how it's possible. I, personally, would be embarrassed to wish ill on any one who was doing their best for themselves and their families. I'd rather be a "bad American" than anything less than a decent human being.
Citizenship applications, by the way, are not the problem, whether they're horrendous or not. Yes, they're too expensive for low-income people, especially if you're talking about a family; files are often lost; and sometimes people are stuck in the name check for no discernible or conceivable reason. But that's not where the problem is. You can't just apply for US citizenship because you'd like to. You have to become a legal permanent resident first (get a green card, in other words), and there's no program under which those who come here illegally could do that (or could have done that at any point). There's no "line" for them to join. There's no "hard work" or "time" that they can invest in the process, unless by hard work we mean marrying a US citizen. That's what an amnesty would change--they could apply, and they would no longer need to steal anyone's identity.
I think it is cold, and inhumane to ignore the reality of the Mexican economy and punish people for trying to take care of their families.
Shame on you.
Of course you would, but if the means you chose was robbing banks ... eventually you are going to jail no matter what good reasons you had for doing it; and by your choice you would not only have given your children a really bad example to follow, but again by your own choice you would also have deprived them of your ability to be a continuuing guide or help to/for them in any way.
The Mexican government itself is more responsible for the cold and inhumane reasons it's own people legitimately have and which they and their government use to convince us and themselves that they must ... nay! that it's their right to break our laws in order to take care of their families.
It's a horrible situation but when the one being helped turns around and bites the hand that's helping . . .
... well, it's time to pull that hand back.
I know it's the in thing to do to blame the one with the open door rather than the ones who chose to trespass; but let's be real and put the blame where it rightfully belongs.
If someone from a state 4 states over came to my town and just moved into my home because the taxes were too high or they couldn't find a job in their home state ... I doubt I would consider myself inhumane for telling them to get out or face the legal remifications for invading my home.
And the fact that they were only trying to take care of their family would not move my heart; until they were out of my home.
Then by my choice I could, and would then be more inclined to invite them back in, help them find somewhere else, petitition their state gov side by side with them, find or give them a job. But they must leave my home first and not come back until they enter it legally with my permission.

If I was very poor with hungry children I would use any means possible to feed them.

This poem never has been, or currently is part of the laws or treaties regarding immigration. It is meaningless, just a place for open border, brain dead liberals to gather around and sing "Kumbaya".
Sharon, I am so with you. Isn't that what being a parent is about? Or are we under the impression that only applies to Americans and other parents shouldn't care about making the world brighter for their children?
And yes you can get foodstamps without a social security number...I know as I seen it with my very own eyes. I watched a man who was in this country less 3 days and recieved emergency foodstamps for himself only..Yes, he was illegal.
And the statue of liberty was given to us as a gift from France..we didn't write those words.
I still said...come legally or get out.
Why are you angry at the people who do suck-ass jobs for slave wages in horrible conditions, yet let the company who pays less than prevailing wages, no benefits, and no employment taxes in order to increase their profit margins slide?
If you honestly feel so strongly about not wanting "them" here, you should be attacking the head of the snake.
Attack both at the same time - or stop the flow before doing anything else .. then decide which to attack or (again) attack both at the same time. Otherwise we are simply chasing our collective tails.
