The lilacs are just starting to bloom in Minneapolis

Are they gone already where you live?  They don't last long.  That's kind of mean of them.  They are so pretty.  They make bushes that look ugly most of the year suddenly look and smell like a million bucks !!!

There's a row of them in the alley and when it's WARM and the windows are open they smell up the whole apartment.

My sister still has a few blossoms on hers. I don't have any but I have some Japanese jasmine in bloom that smells wonderful. (Check out my image of my sister's lilacs).

I never really noticed lilacs in Georgia. I don't know if they grow in our crappy red clay soil.

They are still in bloom, but some of them are getting brown now, where they get more sun.

Our week and a half long Lilac Festival here just ended, but the blooms remain. A few have started dying off, but the fragrance is still in the air. It was much better weather for lilacs this year. Last spring, it was so cold and overcast, I only had a few bunches produced toward the top of the three 25 foot lilac trees that were outside my back door where I recently moved from. The prior year, those same trees were so loaded with blossoms, the branches were weighted down and hung so low; they almost touched the ground. It sure made for easy picking and my house was filled with vases brimming with lilacs.

They are at their peak in New England this week. I cut a big bouquett his morining. My husband who has hay fever is not happy.

I do not have any but I love the smell,-- lilacs are one of my favs!!!

Ours are still going strong, but the forsythia, tulips and daffodils are gone. Thank goodness for iris and peony(my very favorite flower).

It's May !!!! The glaciers are still receding in the woods, but the city lilacs are far from that.

They are sparse and slow to bloom.
The weather has been chaotic on this side of Michigan

We have a lilac tree in our back yard. It bloomed in purple, looked gorgeous, and then like a flash it was all turned to green. I wish they would stay in color all summer long. Now wouldn't that be cool??
