The kids had a ball. They love anywhere that has this much water around it. They were constantly finding ways of getting into the ice cold water. I could not go into the ice water myself. Even though it was August it felt so cold!

We visited several different lighthouses while on our way around Maine. Pemaquid Point was my favorite one. There was a lot of places to relax, picnic area, and beauty to admire everywhere. We bought a boxed lunch from the little snack bar nearby. It was the best fried cod I had ever tasted. It was a very delightful time....

We also visited Portland. The lighthouse and park were quite gorgeous. The water there was also way too cold for me. I pulled my sons out when they turned a little blue! It's funny being from South Carolina I think Connecticut water is cold. Well Maine waters are nothing short of ice water in my opinion. Beautiful but way too cold. I must say I enjoyed the hot tubs at the hotels we stayed at!

Maine is truely a beautiful place. There is a lot to do there and so much to see. August is a good time to go, but it is very crowded in the real scenic areas. We wanted to visit the beaches in the lower coastal villages but they were over crowded. I would go back but probably at a different time of year.

Looks like a picture postcard, I'd like to visit it someday.

This post is spotlighted in the Friday Edition of Today On Gather .
Congratulations!
Simply wonderful! I have never been to Maine and am finding a wealth of information in all these spotlighted Maine posts. Your lighthouse photos reminded me of the tons of photos and articles I once posted on here about lighthouses. Maybe I will repost them.
Happy Friday to you and congratulations on your spotlight.
Although the waters of Maine are damn cold
They invigorate you with life...jump in, scream a bit, and then get out as fast as you can.
