While walking around the lake I saw a fisherman, sitting on the bank. This is not uncommon as we do have several kinds of fish in our lake, and people do fish here.

As we got closer Mateo did his protective low growl, and I did have to agree this guy looked creepy. Years ago while fishing with my grandfather, I was taught to sit still, so as not to scare the fish away. This man had learned that lesson well, and he sat perfectly still. Even Mateo and I could not break his concentration.

When Mateo spotted a squirrel and ran ahead chasing it, I considered thanking Mateo for leaving me here to fend off a creepy looking fisherman on my own. I continued walking and watching, and to my surprise as I got closer realized it wasn't a man at all. A cottonwood had fallen and the root was sticking up making it look like someone was sitting on the bank. That explains why the dog lost his protective stance, he knew before I did that it wasn't a person.

Walking back the same way we had come, I had to take some photos, knowing this would be hard to explain without them. Consequently, enjoy the photos of the fisherman or cottonwood root. As well as a few shots I had taken of Gulls.

Looked like he was wearing a hooded cape.
I'm glad it turned out to be an innocent tree trunk. :)
Great pictures...
