Saturday Quad Ride
All pictures taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8.
Today we decided to invite our friends to go for a quad ride with us. And, since we were there we decided to pick up a few more geocaches. I guess 9 weren't enough for me yesterday.
We decided to head up close to Forest Lakes and run some of the roads up there. There were actually several people out on their quads and OHVs, many of them camping for the weekend.
We were having a little difficulty in finding some of the caches today because a GPS tells you where something is "as the crow flies" not as the roads lay. So, in our circling we found some really cool areas like this little creek and cool rock formations.
One of the caches was named Rock Maze and the name fit so well. The cache was hidden in this literal maze of rock. You could walk all around and through these rocks.

The lizards must be well fed in these rocks. Here's one of the little chunks.
We even found this cool little stream, complete with a nice little waterfall.

Here is another shot of the cool rock formations we saw that day. Mother Nature is so cool.

We really had to laugh about this cache. This one was named A Whale of a Good Time. LOL. How cute is that?
Robert got this really cool shot of a baby pine tree trying hard to grow in the crevice of this huge boulder. It looks like a bonsai tree.
I got the best shot I could of this hawk circling overhead. We saw a herd of elk as well but as usual the head was behind the trees and I didn't get a good shot. One of these days I will.
I took a shot of the tops of these boulders and when I got home I almost deleted it because it's not really all that great, but, like my friend Tinch, I must have "taco neck" because I turned my head and saw a new image.
So I turned the picture around and saw this cool face in the rock. LOL.
In fact, if you know anything about Robert and his winter quad hat, you could say that this rock looks like a side view of him. To see the hat I'm speaking of it's in the Cypress Thicket article about half way down.

We had a wonderful day today in the pines. It was a great day for a quad ride and a few geocaches. I hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend as well. I plan on crashing for the rest of the weekend.
