This weekend Robert and I went geocaching again. We ended up getting 9 geocaches on Friday. I figured we could get some of the easy caches in Pine and Strawberry. You'd think I would have learned by now that none of these caches are exactly easy. They all require walking or hiking and by the time you get to 9 of them you've walked quite a ways.
Anyway, the first cache we got to on Friday had a lot of trash in the forest. It's really too bad that people have to leave their crap behind. Normally I would have picked some trash up but there was too much here and we didn't have a big enough bag.
The first cache was called Throne View and I'm assuming this came from the shape of this old stump. Somebody actually did a really good job of hiding the cache here. Can you tell where it is? There is also a pretty good decoy here.
We had some pretty good views from here if you could look above the manzanita bushes, which was no easy task for me. Pine and Strawberry have really tall manzanita bushes.
We even found some pretty cool old trees. This one was really cool.
On the cache called Hog Heaven we found this stump with the core being the last part to die. It made a really cool star shape.
Here is why this cache is called Hog Heaven. Pretty cool idea, huh?

Another cache was hidden in the Pine Cemetary. I wasn't quite sure what to think about playing a "game" inside of a cemetery but it was actually kind of cool since we got to see some of the graves of the people that made history happen for the people in this small town.
Here is a view from another cache. These are beautiful mountains that surround the Pine area.
Here is another great idea for a cache. This one took us forever to find because the coordinates were off quite a bit. This one was called Speed Demon. LOL.

We also did a virtual cache for the day. Virtual caches are caches in which you go to the coordinates to see something, usually a great view or a historical area, rather than finding a physical cache. With virtual caches you usually have to take a picture of you at the place or answer questions given by the person who posted it. Today we went to the Strawberry Schoolhouse virtual cache.

Despite all the reflections from outside, I actually managed to get a few good pictures of the furnishings inside the schoolhouse. It almost looks like there are ghostly figures inside but that's just our reflections.

On our way back out to the highway, we saw this sign and couldn't resist a picture. The paint is a little faded but it gets the point across. LOL.
Here is another good idea for a cache. The bottom container was buried in the ground so only the stump was sticking out. You had to twist the whole stump to get the lid off.
We saw a really cool fence and I had to get a perspective shot.
Then we stopped at a convenience store in Pine to get some much-needed nourishment and found this old sign. Those were the days.
Well, 9 caches for the day were way too many so we ended up going home and crashing for the rest of the day.

I still have no idea what geocaching is having read the articlem but it sound interesting.
I just hate it when people leave their trash anywhere. I'd like to find them and stuff it in their mailboxes.
I got a big kick out your statement of "Those were the days." describing $1.99 gas. That wasn't all that long ago.
LOL, MOM! I knew you'd catch that!
Yeah, that trash dumping ticks me off too; I don't get some people at all.
Thanks for taking me along, had fun, ha ha. Take care.
Thanks so much for posting this to
