(please see Ken's comments below for the continued update). My stepfather, Ken, recently lost his mother on Monday. Her funeral was Thursday. On Wednesday Ken's brother, James, had triple by-pass surgery and his aortic valve replaced. He is not doing well. He is heavily sedated, machines are breathing and pumping his heart for him. The doctors had planned to disconnect the machines yesterday (Friday) for his lungs and heart to start working on their own, but decided he was not ready for that. They will leave him as he is until Monday and then re-evaluate. His wife is Lori, and sons are James Jr. and John. Please pray for his recovery. Please add him to the prayer list at your church.
Thank you all in advance
for sending your prayers and positive thoughts.

God rest the soul of his Mother,,, Blessings to all,,,
Marie, thank you very much. You wrote good and encouraging news. I will pass the information on to Ken and other family members. I am glad Tony is doing well now. :)
***Update****
James remains in the hospital, hooked up to the ventilator due to his inability to breathe on his own. It is not possible to wean him off the ventilator yet. There have been no other changes.
Thank you all for your continued prayers, positive thoughts, etc.
I found out late last night that they removed the ventilator Tuesday afternoon and James is breathing on his own. THANK GOD!!! They had him out of bed for a few minutes . When they put him back to bed he resisted to the point of having to be restrained. He did not recognize his wife. I do not think the resistance and inability to recognize is unusual at this point. I can imagine that when he woke up he did not remember where he was and why he is there. I really can't imagine what it would be like after being sedated for a week.
The machine that was pumping his heart was removed Saturday morning and his heart seems to be working fine.
I believe he is over the hump but he has a long way to go. Everyone's prayers are still needed.
I am very sorry that I have not responded here sooner. Just a lot going on.
I can not begin to express how grateful I am for all of the encouragement, kind words, and prayers that have been given by everyone here.
I gratefully Thank each of you and God Bless you all!!!
Please keep the prayers going. Not just for my brother but for everyone that touches our lives. Prayer Is Powerful!
Ken
James is not progressing very well. I was told that 3 times his heart was "racing out of control" and they had to shock him to get it under control. I was told there is medicine to control this but it is not reliable. The doctors are saying the only way to control it is with a pacemaker/fibulator implant. They said they cannot guarantee he will make it through this surgery.
Please continue with your prayers.
Thank You Everyone!
Ken
Bill, you are so right. Thank you for your prayers.
Elsie, thank you so much. I am glad you have done well with your surgery.
Returning for an update. Sounds really rough. I hope things level out with improvement every day. Continuing to send you positive thoughts and prayers for James and everyone involved.
James is doing much better, however he does have a long way to go. The ventilator was removed and he is breathing on his own. He is able to talk, exercise (a little) by walking short distances, and is eating pretty well (or as good as you can in a hospital). They have not done the pacemaker surgery yet because they are waiting on him to regain some strength. He does have a blood clot and is receiving high doses of blood thinner. He won't be able to go home until the blood clot is taken care of.
Thank you all for your continued support. It is much appreciated.
Thank you all. Things are improving....if only a little at a time.
Update: He is home now and doing much better. Of course, he isn't up to his "old self" yet and continues to be weak. Thank you all for your prayers, positive thoughts & energy. You guys are great!
