Like Barack Obama, I have to respond to George W. Bush's anti-Dem rant delivered to the Israeli Knesset with a bemused "what the ****?!"
To begin with, this was just really the wrong place and time to deliver a partisan bomb. It's not Pittsburgh, for pete's sake, it's Tel Aviv. They do not vote in our election. Imagine for a moment Mr. Olmert delivering an address to Congress and ranting about what is wrong with the Israeli Labor Party. Would that seem remarkable to you? In these days of partisan politics, can we at least agree to refrain from badmouthing each other in front of the legislatures of our allies? George, you harp on how proud you are to be an american, but I am not so sure that our nation commands your respect- you seem to confuse our nation with your political party. They are not the same, dude.
Then there was the wacky historical parallel. George, you are not a historian. If you were better than a C student, you would probably realize just how faulty that historical parallel was. Neville Chamberlain's problem was not that he was willing to meet with Hitler. No, his problem was that he met with Hitler, failed to comprehend Hitler, and after the meeting went home and failed to take the right actions to deal with Hitler. Hitler was a power hungry madman who desired to rule the planet and carry out genocide on an industrial scale. Hamas, by contrast, are a small scale group of fairly intransigent islamists who desire to liberate their countrymen from Israeli occupation. beyond that, they have no apparent ambitions. They have in the past practiced terrorism against israeli civilians. On the other hand, the palestianians have also at times received some pretty harsh treatment from the Israelis, including civilians. It is in the interest of the USA to foster peace between these two peoples, irrespective of our liking or disliking of the governments. The problem is that creating a state of peace in the levant requires the cooperation of both parties, not just one. If Barck Obama wants to talk to people, fine, talk is cheap. If he follows up on that talk with foolish policies, judge him accordingly.
I got tired in only a month of Hillary playing the Race Card, and now I can look forward to George and John taking turns playing the Fear Card for another five months. I actually wonder if they planned it in advance. Hmm, that would have been a pretty weird phone conversation. Careful John, George is carrying a 51% disapprovale rating. Sure use him as an attack dog if you wish, but do not let the photographers find you in the same room with him.
In further crazy statement news, Mike Huckabee was delivering a public talk, when he heard a big crashing noise backstage today. "That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He was getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him, and he dove for the floor," Huckabee told the NRA convention in Louisville, Kentucky. That was so wrong on so many levels. Forty years ago, Martin Luther King was assasinated, and he was not even running for president at the time. Let's count the presidents who recieved bullets, including Reagan. Assasination humor, so darn funny!
Wow.

Also mentioned that the US and Israel were as one on the world stage... How many have accused the US of being Israel's puppet?
As for McCain, I think he is brighter and more flexible than George, but I have been alarmed by his willingness to cling to the Bush legacy. Over half of McCain's supporters are the 32% of us who actually still support Bush, and I think that makes it a bit difficult for mcCain to go his own way. McCain announces his climate change plan, and it goes over like a lead balloon, because half of his audience is still in denial.
And forgive me I don't mean to sarcastic but I am just tired of the total misunderstanding of the facts. Again forgive me because I am reacting not to your intent as I am sure it is noble but to the dumbfound ignorance you are portraying in this, although I am sure unintended, ignorant rant.
The truth is that George W. Bush has kept us safe over the past 7 and half years. We haven't had a terrorist attack since 911 and we are safer. I mean if you look at the rest of the world anecdotally it would appear that it has become more and more conservative. Thank you George W. Bush for that.
But I understand there may be some ignorance on the subject of conservatism too, which I am sad to say that George W. Bush has not been a very good conservative. So where I meet you in the middle is on that point. He has spent money like it is going out of style, which it is, and he has made some major mistakes with the war, namely trusting Donald Rumsfield. But all and all George W. Bush has been a good president having to make tough decisions that no president has had to make in our lifetimes nor will have to make, hopefully, in our life time.
So again forgive me for reacting to your ignorance. I don't blame you, nor your frustrating intentions, but for goodness sakes, really look into the principles that Barrack or any other Democrat or Republican is asserting and make sure that you can follow those principles to their logical conclusions. For the sake of the country please do this!
by the way, I am not that ignorant. I have even read a few books.
And forgive me again. We got started off on the wrong foot. I am assuming you are of the influence of Marxism and that is why you are drawn to an Obama type figure. Am I correct in this assumption?
I am not a marxist; I agree with the capitalist critique of marxism that it discourages excellence. On the other hand, I agree to some extent with marx's criticism of unlimited capitalism that it has an ugly side too.
For the most part, our current economic system of capitalism mixed with elements of socialism looks okay to me, except that environmentalism seems to get patted on the head and told to play somewhere else.
I do believe that government needs to practice sound fiscal policy- the money coming in needs to equal the money going out. Bush has been a joke there. You can do it by limiting expenses, or you can raise revenue when you undertake a back-breaking expense, like a war. Tax cuts during wartime do not work for me.
As to obama being the answer to Bush, nobody really has a crystal ball. obama reputedly can run a meeting, which Bush never could. Bush just had photo opps, then ran to Cheney afterwards and did what he said. Will obama balance the budget? It is quite a mountain to climb. He gave an indication, when he refused to go with mcCain and Clinton on a gas tax holiday, that he is not a knee jer tax cutter. That pleases me, because as I say, our current tax revenue does not equal our spending. To slap more tax cuts on top of this situation is to invite disaster and financial collapse.

I also have a Facebook group called 'Capitalist Unite!' and would love to have your opinions and commentary. Thanks and God Bless!
Capitalism as an economic system works better than communicsm, but it is essentially soul-less. I may have left my childhood Catholicism behind, but I will go with Pope Benedict that far- there is more to human life than money and ego.
So if collectivism is not a good thing then why would you vote for a person like Barack Obama? I am assuming, of course that Barack Obama is whom you are voting for. Correct me if I am wrong.
Barack represents modern day collectivism within his policies and principles.
Don't get me wrong, John McCain is not much better, nor the Republican party for that matter. But at least John McCain will appoint objectivist judges that aren't bent on being activist judges or so he pledges. Also he, so far, espouses that he will veto pork barrel spending by Congress, which is the real problem we face today. And he will keep us on the offensive when it comes to prosecuting the war against Islamic extremism.
I just don't see Barack taking us in that direction. I want to believe in a man like him and again I am sure his heart is in the right place, but his principles are just not the right direction for our country.
Besides that I am a lover, not a hater.
