I woke up a bit ago, and it just so happened that an episode of The People's Court was on. I wasn't really paying attention, but when they showed the part where the guy on the street interviews people about their opinions of who is in the right, I happened to notice the guy doing the interviewing. He looked really familiar, but I couldn't figure out where I'd seen him.. then it hit me! That's Harvey Levin, who now is the producer of TMZ! I wasn't positive at first, so I Googled, and it turns out that it is really the same guy. In the process, I also found a link to a new website called People's Court Raw, that he is also connected to. It's a YouTube style site, owned by Warner Brothers, Entertainment, where people who have any kind of dispute, big or small, can upload a video of themselves giving the facts of their dispute, and then the other person can record a video explaining their side of the story, and the members of the site get to vote on who is in the right. I'm not exactly sure of Harvey's level of involvement with this site, but he does appear in a video explaining about the site and how to get started.
In the video, he says
"People's Court Raw is the ultimate democratic tool. Let the world finally prove you're right in any of those disputes you've been having with your friends, family, coworkers or someone you're involved with."
It sounds like it can be a way to really get grievances settled fairly..and pretty funny too. You get to watch people airing their dirty laundry and personal business ..and you get to vote, and either be helpful and give real help, or poke fun at how stupid they are. Who doesn't love that, huh??
I'm not sure when the site launched, but I decided to check it out and started poking around and checking out some of the different stuff posted, hoping to find something really gritty..some tales of huge wrongdoings, neighbors against neighbors, relatives who stole from each other, landlord disputes.. you know, the kind of stuff you get on The People's Court show. Instead, there are things like 'my sister ate my tomatoes and mozzarella, and I think she should replace it', and a 22-year-old guy living with his mommy who wants to move his bedroom down into the spare guest room downstairs..he wants 'big boy furniture" WTF? Get an apartment, dude! There are a few that are funny and/or interesting enough to vote on though. You would figure you could at least get some entertainment value out of the voter's comments on the really lame disputes..but there aren't that many voters yet, and there doesn't seem to be too much going on. The site is still pretty new, and Warner Bros. says they "really haven't launched it yet".
Well, there's not much going on there yet, but it could very well get very popular in the future, once word of mouth gets around more. Things could get more interesting. As of now, there are videos to check out and vote on, so I figured I'd share it here, in case anyone is bored and wants to check it out, or in case you're having some kind of argument you'd like to put up for people to vote on. Does your hubby hog the remote? Wife hog the blankets? He won't take out the trash? Argument with a sibling or your mom? Your best friend steal your boyfriend? Maybe you're bored and you want to make up some funny BS to put up there, just to entertain yourself and see what people say.. or maybe come up with a story that would make Jerry Springer proud and post it just for ha-ha's LOL
Check it out People's Court Raw
