I decided that I needed to get a little closer, but because they are so big, how could I really get a photograph from the right angle to show just how amazing it is?

I switched to a 16:9 and wondered if that might work, but it didn't work so well...either way, look at these two trees! They are HUGGING!

If you look at the first image you can see that the photo above is the top of the two trees where one had reached across to the other and they have continued to grow as one.
I saw some other beautiful things that day....

Like these multi-colored Maple "helicopters", or "nose plugs" glistening in the sun and blowing in the breeze...
And this dawn redwood glows....it is magical! It was planted here by an old man who first started this park project some years ago. All his plantings have replaced the old deserted town beach.

Sadly, there is some major commercial construction going on up the hill behind this newly designated park, and the dirt is coming down and filling up the small pond. There is a grass roots group coming to life out of this beautiful landscape, which is called Lamson Park.
Although I am always afraid to commit to things, and still have not, I have spent at least five hours here weeding the garden beds already. Maybe I will adopt a bed.

There is a zen quality to this park, with it's strategically placed stones and seating that made me fall in love with it when I re-discovered it last year.

One man, and one man alone, comes down here in his "spare" time and takes care of the place. Recently the park received a donation of mulch, but is still in need of some nice loam so the grass can be done correctly--keep in mind that this used to all be SAND!

When I need a place to meditate, reflect, write poetry or feel at home, I come to this plot of land where my grandmother used to take me for walks, when the woods were much thicker and the old beach still stood, silent. Now, it teems with birds, butterflies, dragonflies, frogs and turtles...and God knows what else, this year! And yeah it is teeming with ME!

Oh, O.K., I just cannot help it...I had to show off this photograph. I used the manual settings today with the Leica with some success. This is NOT in Lamson Park! I will put up the series in my photograph section.
Thanks for stopping by!

I hope the park will be saved from any developers, or the nearby construction.
Maybe you could organize a little group? It sounds like a project that is calling your name - it has a strong sense of place even in the pictures.
Lovely pictures including the Leica shot:)
Love the article and your photography!
