Remember the Eleventh of September
And not with Thoughts of Hatred or Vengeance
Remember the Eleventh of September
Remember how there were Three there
Suffering their Darkest Day
America, Islam, and al-Qaeda
Remember the Eleventh of September
As an Occasion of Sadness for All of Humanity
Remember the Eleventh of September
Not as American Tragedy, nor mere Human
But Remember it as God's Tragedy
We each Understand our Own
The Eagle takes Lonely Flight
Into a Thicket of Thorns
The Dove shot Down with Radiant Light
Molten to be Reborn
The Wolf too Hungers
Devours Fear thinking it Sustenance
When in reality all Humanity must suffer This Plight
We fear what we do not Understand
We fear what is Different from our own
We fear what we cannot Change
And we fear that over which we have no control
And fear so turns to Hateful actions
Crafted to Hide the Fear
So we do not appear Weak or Feeling
Be Bold Mighty Warrior, be Courageous
Strike down the Enemy
And if you meet Death in doing so
Join your God in Paradise Above
They Each Declared It
In God's Name, For His Will
They Each Commanded Theirs
That all Others Must be Killed
We fight Wars among ourselves
In the Shadow of a larger, greater War
We stab, and kill, and die for God
And with our Puny Wars
We are Small and Losing Indeed
God cannot watch
There are Tears
In His Holy Eyes
He says
In cracked
And booming voice
Remember the Eleventh of September
And Time unravels to a Ribbon of Dust

Okay I'll stop talking now. Sleep deprived overly tired writers do not write clear comments.
Thanks for writing and sharing this.

We Need To Rebuild The Towers
© Robert C Burnham
written 09-11-2002
a tribute to 09-11-2001
We need to rebuild the towers
Each step to bear a name
One hundred and ten stories tall
3000 souls, laying claim
We need to rebuild the towers
To let our children see
That even in the darkest of hours
Freedom can still declare victory
We need to rebuild the towers
For the girl on the 84th floor
Whose mother burns a candle in the window
Though her daughter comes home no more
We need to rebuild the towers
For the young son from the womb
Who will probably never understand
Why his mother had no groom
We need to rebuild the towers
For Joey the brave fireman
Who rushed up into the cauldron
Never to be heard from again
We need to rebuild the towers
That's the only right thing to do
It's the most honest way, that we can say
To the victims: "We Honor You"
We need to rebuild the towers
And make them beacons of light
So they can join Ms.Liberty in proclaiming
We cherish our right to life
We need to rebuild the towers
Beneath God's watchful stare
Blessing each corner-stone and girder
And demonstrate that he is welcomed there
We need to rebuild the towers
That's all I have to say
To present a testimony worthy enough
And to always remember that day.
Presumably these "terrorists" who crashed the planes were angry and that's why they did it... Presumably they were angry because their own people, somewhere at sometime, were suffering (or had suffered) and dying (or had died) -- because they just couldn't be angry enough about anything LESS than that to do what they did, right? -- and they blame the United States for it...
But, the act, itself, caused MORE of their people to suffer and die (the "pilots") and then caused OTHER innocent people to suffer and die, as well...
I don't understand how anyone could feel that, by perpetrating the same horrible act as was done to them, they come out being any better than the people they already blame for that same horrible kind of act... I keep trying to understand it but the issue is too contradictory -- to contrary -- to make any sense to me...
During the Crusades the slogan among the so-called Christian knights was "God wills it!" they were talking about the slaughter of the Muslims in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, Osama bin Laden tells his people it is God's will that America be destroyed. So we have a Pope (whose name escapes me, and I'm too lazy to look it up) who declares all who join the Crusades automatically go to heaven, and bin Laden declaring all who die martyrs while killing Americans automatically go to heaven. Kind of makes you think.
People will believe anything...The terrorists are not just angry, they are afraid, just the same as we are. We are all human....Jean, I am writing a serial called the Finale, the first two parts are posted on Gather and I'm writing the third now (it will be many many many more). It deals almost exclusively with the topics of God, terrorism, love, and hatred. I try to answer some hard questions. I try to promote understanding.
But I'm just human too and we all fail in the end.
I just read one of your other articles and like the way you think about life in general. About love and open mindedness; about seeing and hearing people. I like your writing so
I wasn't going to comment then decided I would put down a thought or two for all to consider along with your own.
The very last line is worded beautifully; but I think it important for us to realize that this creation isn't a lost cause or out of control. There is a wonderful plan being carried out. Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Thought that important)NAS
He was with each of those terrorists as they learned to fly. He was with them as they went to bed...and got up. He was there when each ticket was purchased. When husbands and wives kissed goodbye that morning. He kept some home from work that day. He is sovereign. He was in control. He let it happen. He had His purpose.
I probably misread you but wanted to offer this statement of what the Bible says. Of course many don't go by the New Testament, but there are many verses in OT. Somewhere in Amos it says "Does calamity occur in the city and has not the Lord God done it?" Proverbs says "A die is thrown into the lap ... but it's every decision is from the Lord." Psalm 75 "...It is God who judges; He brings one down, He exalts another."
Our beliefs may go hand in hand in this area Ylanne ... I just didn't pick it up in the poem. I can declare Him sovereign. But if anyone asked me "Why 911" I do not know. I don't think we know the 'why' of most things. But we know what kind of a God He is so we can trust His purpose.
What many will do in the name of God....it is sickening, disturbing, and most of all, frightening.
The 19 hijackers were victims too. I do not condone what they did in any way shape or form, but their deaths were great losses too.
I just wanted to say I am finally going through what is now under 6,400 pieces of gather new mail that is in my inbox on here. So with that in mind I have finally come to a piece of mail that was addressed to me in regards this article submission you have created to share with the gather community. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your piece with us here at gather. :o)
