Bummed Out

My husband just told me this morning that October Road has gotten cancelled.  I am really disappointed by this because I really started to get hooked on the show.  I did not like it at first but, the characters and the story lines started to grow and the show began to take on a lot of charm. 

This ABC show started off being about a guy named Nick who left the small town that he lived in leaving all of his best friends and his high school sweetheart behind.  While away Nick writes a best selling novel about the small town and uses his friends and girl friend as characters in his book.

 When he decides to return home he finds all of his old friends and his high school sweetheart very upset for him for both the way that he left, and for how he portrayed them in his story.  Nick had to earn his way back in to his friends lives.  Coming back also brought up old feelings for his old girlfriend Hannah.  Who also has a son that may or may not be Nick's.

What started out as a show about one guys return to his home town turned in to a show about 5 best friends, as well as their loves, and families. 

The show was really getting good, and the final episode ended up with a bunch of cliff hangers.   Fans like me are no doubt wondering what becomes of the characters on October Road and are going to be upset because we will be left hanging as to what happens to these characters that we have grown fond of. 

I sincerely hope that ABC reconsiders its decision to cancel this wonderful show, or at least gives us a final episode that will conclude the story lines.  I have read on another site that one of the smaller networks may be picking this show up. 

Any one else upset about this cancellation?  Or have you heard any rumors about it showing up on another network?
