My Son Took First Place!

My sons  school has a field day evey year and whoever places highest in the events moves on to the county competition. He participated in the 400 meter run, 800 meter run, and the 1600 meter relay.

My son has always loved to run and has always been the fastest on all his sports teams and among his classmates. What surprised me a bit was that he was the fastest in the county. He took first place in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:22 blowing away his competition. He was funny as he explained the race he told me how all the kids took off sprinting for the first 400 meters. He did not. They all got tired and as he put it he" kicked it in high gear" for the last 400 and took the win. He now gets to hold the title of fastest in the county in his age group for this year at least.  He placed 5th in the county in the 400 meter and the relay team did not do as well as he would have liked. He says his team mates were to slow. I reminded him that they could not have been that slow they did in fact make it to the competition. LOL.
