At Ghostock 6 this past weekend, John J. Oliver was talking about how we often act in survival mode, responding to things on a level that is all about us and our basic needs: food, shelter, security, etc. Murray Silver talked about the fact that we spend so much of our time just catering to the needs of our body and ignoring the needs of our spirit, even though the spirit is what survives and the body is only temporary. John says that we need to learn to spend more time responding from a higher level of ourselves. Murray says we need to take more care of spirit.
I think that one of the ways we can align our thoughts and actions to a higher, more spiritual level is through gratitude. And we have this new group here on Gather which is all about expressing gratitude on a daily basis. So I'm going to start trying to do that: to spend time each day expressing gratitude for what I have. I honestly am not sure who I'm expressing gratitude to: God, Goddess, Earth, Universe..but I don't really thing it matters.
The things I am grateful for are so numerous. I'm grateful for my husband, my grown kids and the fact that we truly do like as well as love each other, for my grandkids, that I'm not out on the street, homeless, that I don't have Alzheimer's...
That being said, I think I'll pick a few things I'm most grateful for at a time. Right now, I'm feeling very grateful for having met and come to know Patrick and Pamela Burns and the Ghosthounds, for Ghostock, for the ability to constantly learn new and interesting things, and for the ability to put words down on paper.
Oh, I'm grateful for the Internet! Very, very grateful for the Internet.
To be continued..
