their chairman told me he would be glad when there was a democrat back as governor in florida

When asked why, he said they didn't have funds to run the county health program for planned parenthood type programs.

Florida republicans don't think it's that important.

His policy positions are soundly in line with the majority of the nation, so I'm curious to see what you've got. I am not against capitalism, it certainly has proven itself around the world to be the best form of government. But as the saying goes, even too much of a good thing, is bad. You can't live without water, but drink too much water, and you will die.

I see an administration who is unwilling to provide aid for its most honorable citizens - its veterans.
I see a president who uses a silly excuse for his refusal to ever attend a single war casualty funeral. (Attendance was common among past presidents.)
I see an administration who failed to provide adequate numbers of troops and body armor to reduce the rate of casualties.
I see a vice president, who when asked about the American public's overwhelming opposition to the war in Iraq, smugly reply, "So?" And as part of his response to war casualties were the words, "...they volunteered...", as if that were a justification.
I see an administration who ignored intelligence, both U.S. and foreign, presented just days before 9/11, which indicated that a major terrorist attack was to happen soon in the U.S.
I see an administration who has given up interest in capturing Osama bin Laden, even as bin Laden continues to threaten the world with terrorist attacks which will be more spectacular than 9/11, and serves as a hero to rally radical fundamental Islamic extremists.
I see a record breaking disparity between wealthy and poor in this country.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture.

I want a president who will change our course.
I honor and respect McCain for his military service to this country.
I do not think McCain will change the current course of our country, and so I will not vote for him.
I will vote for the person nominated for the Democratic ticket, Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.

Obama is somewhat more liberal than I would like, but I do think he is the most honest of the three. I know that he will not be able to deliver much of what he promises, unless the Democratic Party is able to win significant majorities on both sides of Congress, which, while the possibility exist, I do not place much hope in that happening.

But, right now, it is a step in the right direction for this country.

Obama is the best leader to come our way in generations. He tells the truth, even when it's something we don't want to hear. He knows the road ahead is going to be difficult, and that it will require the resolve of democrats, independents and republicans all working toward a common purpose. He is pragmatic and flexible, and will surround himself with people who don't always agree to assure the best possible outcomes. We need a MAJOR change in direction, not just a changing of the republican guard.

Jerry -- take heart! The Democrats picked up their third republican congressional seat since March with the election of Travis Childers of Mississippi, with the very real hope of more this fall.

very interesting debate! Fred I see your point and I am with you. It is stupid to vote just because you think one isnt as bad as the other! RIDICULOUS! Before I vote I am going to try to find out as much about each candidate as possible (avoiding media slants on things ESPECIALLY Fox news) and then choose the one that has consistently voted in the manner I would have voted had I been the one with the job, and also the one that is closest to my morals and beliefs in their voting! I wish more people would educate themselves about all the candidates before just spouting off why they think one or the other is better. Problem is NO MATTER who is elected there is a ton of things that need fixing and I am disenheartened in believing that we will not see very many positive (if any at all) changes. We need to go through and remove all corrupt officials and do a serious restructuring of who holds what position and why they hold it, it has been simply a popularity / name recognition contest rather than an honest one for far too long in my opinion.

You ARE kidding, right? Well, here's the deal. We are WATCHING the perfect storm of spending occur right this very minute. By the republicans in service to us presently. And it is not being spent on Americans, we can't rebuild our own country or maintain its infrastructures, because the war mongers (who won't raise out taxes???) are profiteering from the war efforts that we are paying for....and will continue to pay for even after they leave Washington Town, with their full-up pockets.

Read the numbers. And before you start you tax and spend dialog, look at the figures on income / tax / US budget. Compare it to the state of US finances when Clinton left office. Let's talk balanced budget? 9 trillion off budget, sir. 9 trill. The citizens of the nation will pay for it in one way or another.

Simply put, EVERY time we've had republicans in office for a while, they mess up the whole works, and the dems have to go in and take the hit while they do the right thing for the people. Perhaps it's needful to have this check and balance in place. But, the repubs write the checks, and then the dems have to balance the checkbooks.
THATs why they call us the Tax and Spend Dems. They don't get it. We don't spend it till we have it. They spend it and let "the other party" in for a while to rebuild our finances.

Bret, Have you looked at the cost of McCain's intended continuation of Bush policy? The tab is much higher, and for a lot less good getting done. No one expects any candidate's promises to all get done, Obama's are no exception, but I sure believe McSame will do his damnedest to carry on the tragic policies, both foreign policy wise, and economically, of his favorite slobber doll, Bush. No one does more to mislead and muddy the waters as you seem to, even Don H. I think psych ops, maybe, on both of you? That or moron, 50/50 shot.
