And YOU thought what you wore to the prom was memorable... The prom is
making news nationwide! A Texas girl was recently denied entrance to her
prom because she was told her dress (see photo) was too skimpy and violated
school dress code. She furiously argued with sponsors, saying her dress was
stylish. Things got so bad, the police showed up and handcuffed her outside
the last big event of her high school career.
Three questions:
1) Would you allow your daughter to go to the prom in this?
2) Should this young lady have been denied entrance to her prom for wearing this dress?
3) Who decides what is too little or too much?

2nd- Yes, she should have been denied entrance. For starters, the school had a set of laid out rules regarding clothing, and everyone was told when they purchased tickets that entrance could be denied if they disregarded the rules.
3rd- The school board and the principle should have say over what is or is not innappropriate.
Point blank, she looks like s $2 hooker in that dress. If you look at the picture with her friend taken in the lobby, she didn't have the top half spread out quite so far, either, so little more than her nipples were covered.
1st- NO, my children wouldn't be able to wear that in the middle of the day to the park or school, and certainly not to a FORMAL event. (It looked more like a cheap table cloth!)
2nd- Yes, she should have been denied entrance. For starters, the school had a set of laid out rules regarding clothing, and everyone was told when they purchased tickets that entrance could be denied if they disregarded the rules. (She knew the rules, she chose to ignore them and paid the penalty. Now she wants to bitch about it? Too bad! Read the contract!)
3rd- The school board and the principal should have say over what is or is not innappropriate. (It's called In Loco Parentis and the school had every right whatsoever to act in regard of this manner!)

Come on, Heather, that's an insult to $2 hookers... she looked more like a 50 cent hooker!)
Heather T has some really good points! This girl has the nerve to challenge the authority of a principal, something that would have gotten my generation killed if we even thought about it. The dress was a piece of crap, she tried to challenge authority and lost and now she wants to bitch about it. Too bad! We are tired of seeing young men roaming around with their underwear exposed and young ladies not in college dressing like whores. Go to college and then you can dress any way you want... until you get that diploma, you will play by our rules!
1) Would you allow your daughter to go to the prom in this?
Absolutely not. I wouldn't let my worst enemy's spawn go out in it either. That 'dress' and I use the term loosely, is asking for a 'wardrobe malfunction' which may lead to a boy getting the exact wrong idea and trying to take advantage. NO THANK YOU!
2) Should this young lady have been denied entrance to her prom for wearing this dress?
Yes. The dress code was laid out for a reason. If say she went against the 'no pants for girls' rule my school had had, would think they should have let it slide. Something like this however is totally unacceptable at anything casual never mind formal.
3) Who decides what is too little or too much?
The parents and school board.
1-No I wouldn't allow my daughter to wear a dress like that to prom or anywhere else.
2-Yes, rules are rules.
3-The people who are running the event.
