Does anyone else besides me believe that dreams can at times be an omen of some kind? For the past 2 or 3 months I have been having dreams about my brother-in-law, and I fully believe that God is trying to stir me into doing something to reunite him and my husband, who have been estranged for a couple of years now.
When their mother died about 3 years ago, there was a lot of problems regarding her will among her 3 children. My husband was the only one of the 3 who chose not to get into a battle over material possessions...but even then, he has had to suffer. His brother finally decided just to totally cut ties with all of his family. Since then, my husband has made a couple of small attempts to talk to him, but his brother will just walk away and tell my husband to "Have a nice life."
I've never pushed anyone to try and reconcile. I know that my brother in law must make that decision on his own, and that nobody can change his mind. The thing is, my husband is so affected by this estrangement. Both of his parents are dead, and he is estranged from his brother. He feels as if he has lost nearly all of his family.
After having so many dreams about my brother in law, I felt led to try and contact him, although we do not know his address or phone number. I do know that he is living practically as a recluse, other than going to church each week. So I wrote him a letter in care of his minister...hoping his minister will give it to him. In the letter, I caught him up on all that has been going on....I told him we all love and miss him...and that we would love to see him. I asked forgiveness for anything I may have done to upset him, and I told him that he is always welcome in our home. I gave him all of our cell phone numbers and sent him an up to date picture of all of us.
I'm praying that we hear back from him. If we don't, I'll at least know that I tried. I know those dreams I've been having are for a reason. Hopefully, the outcome will be a good one for everyrone.

However, I do know that some people have prophetic dreams. My sister has had two that I know of and was witness to (heard her describe the dream before the event took place).
Coincidentally, my sister and I are also estranged as I am with one of my five brothers. It is not a pleasant circumstance and I have lost sleep over it at times, but it is their choice and, to be honest, I've lost patience with the whole situation. If they want to be isolated, that is their decision and they must live with it.
On the humorous side...I certainly hope not. I wouldn't want some of my dreams to become a reality...although I did look quite stunning in that red chiffon dress. ;-)
Seriously though, I agree with you and with some of the comments above. Dreams could be a manifestation of our fears, our desires, or our subconscious trying to work through a personal conflict.
In your case, reaching out to someone who has become estranged from your life is never a bad decision regardless of what may have triggered it.
I'll pray that it all works out for you, and that you receive a call or contact from him in some way.

Rory brought up PROPHETIC DREAMS which we will be looking at deeply here in Dream Depths. Rory's response leads me to ask you Cheryl, besides your Brother-In-Law just appearing to you in your DREAMS, what was the content and/or the details surrounding the DREAMS with him?
There can possibly be a deeper reason for your DREAMS of your Brother-In-Law. It is apparent that the DREAMS made a huge impression on your being.
