I'm looking forward to reading about everyone's Mother's Day experiences and after I write this out, I'll be visiting any articles about it that I can find.
My Mother's Day started by sleeping in until 10:30 am and when I woke up, my middle son Alex was super excited about the day. He screamed 'Happy Mother's Day, Mom!' and ran to me for a hug. I stumbled out into the kitchen to make my coffee and Alex had some presents very carefully presented on the coffee table out in the living room. He was already telling me which one to open first and was trying to tear into them already. My husband told him to let me get my coffee first so I could sit down and open them myself, ha.

Coffee in hand... Alex gave me a gift in a pink bag that he made at school and it had 2 foam flowers sticking out of it on pipe cleaners. Really cute! Inside the bag was a rolled up piece of paper that had been very delicately tied with string and it had a whole list of reasons why he loves me. After that he handed me a potted flower that they had picked out at the store before I woke up, and it was an orange Asiatic Lily... very pretty. A card was with it, a funny political themed one that talked about why I would make a good President and it came with a button that says 'Vote Mom' that Alex had picked out himself.
The next thing was a stack of handmade blank cards with different drawn flowers on them, again made by Alex in his 1st grade class. What a neat idea!

After I opened up my gifts I called my step-mom and we talked for almost an hour and then I called my mom who is visiting my brother in San Diego. She was actually napping though so I talked with my sis-in-law for a long time. They were in the process of adopting a dog that day and that makes me really happy because their beloved Kobuk passed away about 4 years ago. They had already gone through the home inspection and the dog was at the vet getting a check up so they would find out later that day if the adoption would go through. What a great Mother's Day present for my sister! They were also taking my mom to the casino, so I'm sure that was fun for her.
My husband had to go to a family friends house to install some faucets for them and took Alex with him. I stayed home with Rylan since I didn't know when my oldest son would be coming home from his dad's house. Carla's kids then came over and I helped them make a card for her. It turned out really cute and her 1 year old even helped out! I had them all draw and color a flower and then I cut them out and put them on another sheet of paper... and then they drew all over the inside and wrote their names. Her youngest daughter just scribbled with some crayons and I looked at it and figured out how it could be a flower and cut around it to make one. I put a Starbucks gift card in it too and the kids took it to her when they left my house. I wish I had taken a picture of it to show you all - maybe I'll ask Carla to take one since it's at her house now.
Travis and Alex ended up being gone for longer than they expected and while they were gone, Xenon came home. He told me 'Happy Mother's Day' and gave me a huge hug, followed it up with an 'I love you Mom'. From there we all took off and picked some things up for Travis' mom and then went out to dinner. MY choice, of course, and I picked Rockin' Rogers so I could get my favorite Avocado burger and fries. They handed out pink carnations to all the moms there, so that was a neat little surprise.
After dinner we all drove to the Emergency Room where my mother-in-law works as a nurse and gave her a really pretty potted purple calla lily plant and a bag full of chocolates and cookies that she could share with everyone who had to work on Mother's Day. I haven't seen my step-mom yet but hope I'll see her next weekend so I can give her the present I got for her. I usually get her something for her home like a framed photo, plant or something with sun motif since she really like that... but this year I got her a digital photo keychain. I think she'll really like that and it's different than something I'd normally get her. My mom called me during everything but I missed it and on the voicemail she left me, she said that the veterinarian's visit went well and my brother, his wife and my niece were able to adopt the dog! She is 3.5 years old, a Border Collie mix and they kept her given name which is Natasha. :o)
All in all, it was a very nice Mother's Day for all of us and I hope yours was nice too!

I had a wonderful day as well.
I was able to see my mom and she, my step dad, and I went to brunch down near the beach. The brunch wasn't great, but the company was nice and we got to sit outside. (I am usually too cold to sit outside, even in CA.)
I had already sent her flowers thanks to a great deal from MyPoints. I got a dozen roses in all sorts of colors delivered on Friday. She must have called and emailed me at least ten times to say thanks and that they were beautiful. I couldn't figure out why she was going so gaga over them. Sure, they were pretty, but come on. She told me that I had never actually sent her flowers before. I had brought her flowers, but never had them sent. She took it as a sign that I am finally on my own two feet and on my way and I guess that made is special.......about time at 36! Darn, if I knew that it would go over that big, I would have done it years ago!
So, Happy Mother's Day Faith and all moms!
I got to sleep until 10:30 also. The usual running around on a typical Sunday for me. The kids did remember to wish me a Happy Mother's Day. We did go to dinner at Chilli's.
I had a great Mothers day too. Take care of you.

Clint took Gideon out to pick flowers for me and we went hiking in Pewitt's Nest. Then we went to the Dells to get over a pound and a half of rainbow colored M&M's in colors you never see in the bag mixes. Gideon wants to do more M&M sculptures in the train.
Thanks so much for posting this to All Photo Essays Here!
Glad your brother and his family were able to adopt a dog, -- I think this is wonderful!!
