We did, however, end up in a restaurant other than McDonald's, which was what the 8-year-old recommended. And I hid my chocolates, so I still have most of them.

To balance the lovely vintage cards Peter Wimsey so kindly posts for us, here's a breeze of modernity: the card I mentioned today on his thread.

I loved your remarks in the Comment Thread.
(I "got" a tray of cinnamon rolls from the grandchildren, srsly. Maybe it's a new trend?)
It could be a trend, Sandy. Mine are apparently called "due cannella", which seems to be Trader Joe-ese for "two cinnamon twists". (I thought it was one long one.)
Of course I got a bunch of school-related craftified items also. I have a flower made out of a pencil, a little decorated basket, and a hand-painted bottle with bath salts (with the kid's name on it several times--it isn't clear where I come into the picture). Some of these are from the "Hungarian school" they attend every second Sunday, and where we celebrated last week. I noticed there was also a metal ring with some colorful glass that some mothers got, but my eight-year-old whispered in my ears that he was going to have to wear mine for me because it wouldn't fit my fat fingers. (Okay, he didn't say "fat", but that had to be the unstated premise of his argument.) On closer inspection, it turned out it was one of those adjustable "rings" with the open ends in the back.... I can only assume that rings with large colorful stones play some important part in RuneScape, because he clearly thought he needed one and I didn't. And he was probably right, when I think about it.
The part that makes me wonder: In 75 years, when someone like Peter collects this and the cards like them, are they going to laugh about the quaintness of terms like "lol" and "srsly" or that people were still using the whole word "with" instead of "w/"?
Food for thought. Srsly.
(I can't help it, Aniko. It's beginning to scare me, too.)
My grown kids spend a great deal of time hunting for the "right" card and then topping off the pre-made message with the perfect note that reduces me to a puddle, a good puddle, but still a puddle.
Srsly, lol. ROFLMAO, wtf?
Sharon, my kids say "WTF" in conversation (as in "hey, double u tee eff!"), which, considering the alternatives, is not that bad. Plus they only use it with each other.
Srsly.
I almost left that as a single comment on Ian's article even though he wouldn't know the reference. Why do I find it so wickedly funny? Has my brain officially turned to mush?
Amelia, I still have some of the chocolates! That's unprecedented.
Srsly. (Last one, I promise)
