Besides being Mother's Day, this also happens to be our sixth anniversary. We are just staying home today – no special outings to celebrate. We exchanged cards at breakfast. Simple is sometimes better.
The morning brought a hard rain with hail balls the size of Chinese checkers. It was all very cozy. After last year's drought I can only appreciate the good it is doing for the garden.
We had a piece of dark chocolate with hot tea that we shared earlier. Then I planted some herbs, basil, dill and garlic in some pots. I still have some of the soil under my fingernails; but it felt good digging my hands into the soil. Afterwards, I did my yoga on the new deck that we are erecting together. There was just a little sun playing hide and seek behind the clouds after the rain, with some wind.
I'm learning to do my yoga routine without the aide of a CD or DVD. I did this while Chris works on the bathroom, getting it ready for me to paint. We have been working on this bathroom/deck project for a couple of months now. We are actually making the bathroom smaller. People's reaction to this is usually surprise.
Although, the whole day is a celebration, as really each moment of life is, tonight we will, weather permitting, cook out, and have a nice dinner together on the deck.
