Happy Mother's Day

This is a wish right from my heart

To all mothers here , how do I start

To tell you how important you are

The job that you do is the hardest by far

Not only that, it's the most important too

For what would the world be without you

Who would raise our leaders for years to come

Even those that listen to a different drum

Who would kiss their boo boos, calm their fears

Help brush their teeth, and clean their ears

Only a little bit of what a mother teaches

To prepare them for life, and it's long reaches

The most success is a happy child

We can rest on our laurels for awhile

But a mother's job is never done

We are all needed, everyone

No matter how old our babies grow

We'll always have something they don't know

So let your children salute you on Mother's day

Accept it with it with grace on this day in May

perhaps just a call on the telephone

If they are away and far from home,

listen carefully when they say I love you

And whisper back, baby, I love you too.

So sweet! I am taking your Mother's Day gift advice and calling my mother on Sunday. (I already sent her a gardening gift basket.)

My mother called me tonight to tell me her sister (my aunt who lives with my parents) has not heard or gotten anything from any of her three children or five grandchildren. Now - that sucks! I hope my cousins at least call their mother but to be on the safe side I am sending her an electronic WalMart gift card and calling her on Sunday too. I can't bear her not having some sort of attention on Mother's Day.

Elsie - THis really brightened my day as I was feeling so guilty after my son had to be rushed to the hospital (not anything I did) after he got hurt in gym class at school. Instead of being totally sympathetic, I was a bit frazzled....but we got through it somehow. Being a mother IS hard and I hope (and pray) that my good days outweigh my bad. I'm fairly sure they do.

Though I'm a guy, I've given 'motherly' attention to others in the past; offered advice, taken care of people, even saved a few lives. I don't even have any children and have never been married, but I think the instinct is inside all of us as human beings caring about others. You're the mother of 4...take care of one who not directly your child...and 'mother' some of your friends. It's something that's just there and you can't turn off. Thanks for your Mother's Day wishes to me...and I send Mother's Day wishes back to you.

I am hoping to hear from My oldest this year. The rest all called or are around and youngest son treated me to lunch yesterday. Middle son said he is taking me out this week later when he gets his pay check. Daughter is coming over this afternoon. I sent my MIl a huge box of SEE's Chocolates her favorite candy and she rarely gets candy. My DIL S I sent a card and gift card and gave my other DIL chocolates and my daughter chocolates and having a baby shower for her Tuesday.
