MAMA WAS A TAXI
©Robert Burnham
Mama was a taxi
She drove us everywhere
She took us all to practices
And read a book while she waited there
Mama was a chef
Which really wasn't her wish
But over a hot stove she slaved
Be it roast beef, chicken or fish
Mama was a teacher
Her wisdom went far beyond school
She taught us the Bible and how we should live
She taught us that Jesus was cool
Mama was our mailman
She gave us the news - good or bad
She shared our joy if it was happy
And comforted us if it was sad
But most of all, our mama
Was the one person we couldn't live without
Still watching over us today
Of that; I have no doubt.
