Later today, the court decided that the "torture memo" must be turned over to the ACLU for their inspection. It's about time. We all know that the memo has been part of a government cover up. It is time that the torture tactics of this country be exposed for what they are. Waterboarding is cruel and unusual and even enemy combatants should not be treated in this manner.
The ACLU has been filing for the release of this memo for a couple of years now. Finally, the court sees it their way. We the public have a right to know the extent to which torture is being used in this country against people who do not have any charges against them. It is un-American to hold people without charges. Glad to see that the court interpreted the US Constitution correctly this time.

I was watching a documentary on torture practices of King Henry VIII. It was so revealing, and horrible how he managed to put innocent people to death through tortured confessions.
Good point, Debra, about designed to get people to say what you want, not necessarily the truth.
The Inquisition unmasked Being an Historical and Philosophical Account of that Tremendous Tribunal, Founded on Authentic Documents; and Exhibiting the Necessity of Its Suppression, as a Means of Reform and Regeneration. Written and Published at a Time when the National Congress of Spain was about to Deliberate on this Important Measure By Antonio Puigblanch, William Walton
It contains on pages 252-253 a description of torture that sounds like where they got the idea for waterboarding.
This was the Church and its Bishops torturing people for being witches and consorting with the devil. Awful.
Michael H. - - - - it's good to hear someone with some sense speak on this issue.
Debra W., --------- there's the rub. Torture doesn't work.
Sandy --------------- I, too, am grateful for the ACLU.
Carol ----------- so true!
Kacie and Barbara - - - - the moral authorities think they are putting us in our place, but history shows that it is those same authorities who need to be cut down a peg or two.
