Do you suffer from Hypographia?

Hypographia is a mental condition whereby someonehas to write.  I do believe I have it. I have always written even as a little kid.  That's why I love Gather.  It give me an outlet for my mental condition of hypographia.

Do you think you have it, too?

I like to practice my writing (to make my penmanship better) but I know I don't suffer from Hyprographia.

I have bouts with it, but never to the point that I would be diagnosed as having Hypergraphia. I almost always have to write out things in long hand, and then I type it out when I get around to it. I have a couple hundred journals and other writings stashed everywhere in the house and I am never far from a pen and paper.

There are a a lot of famous people that were or would have been. Vincent van Gogh, Lewis Carroll and Fyodor Dostoevsky are reported to have been affected by Hypergraphia.

It often accompanies mania/bipolar disorder, which is how I learned about it.

I think I have it. Right now I have to write two papers a week for my classes at school and it takes up all of my time but wait until I'm done with school...

Well, if it's having to write daily, then no. I would LIKE to do that but time just doesn't allow for it.

If it's writing in general, possibly.

No, I don't think I do. Don't get me wrong, I love to write, but talking does almost the same thing for me. So, I must suffer from just having to get things out of my mind by talking or writing.

I may be slightly affected. I really like writing on Gather. I always had a pen pal (still do!), and I write in a journal. But with all my other obligations (work, school, kids, husband), I don't get to write every day like I'd like to!

I know I suffer from hypographia. I'd get the itch to write and make no kind of sense. Changes in plot, blah blah blithering on. Maybe out of 100 stories, two were actually easy to follow. I have a degree in writing. I've done term papers for moolah. I know how to write well. It's at those times I just let fly and I don't care about whether there's a protagonist, or the good guy gets it with an axe at the end. It starts out a kids story and then degenerates into a Rob Zombie nightmare.
