American Idol Results .....Spoiler 05/06/08

I put the spoiler in the title for those who are not on Eastern time and don't know yet..  if you can't wait to see the results.. read on..

Jason shot the Tambourine man.. LOL  that was a good one.   I gotta give the boy one thing..he is pretty funny..and he's got a cute personality.  ..but, unfortunately..that didn't save him.    Love him or hate him, at least he's always himself..   Jason Castro gave his last American Idol performance tonight.. well, at least until the tour, where he will get to do it all again..  He seemed to take the news well, because I'm quite sure he expected it to happen...Ryan said, "You almost seem relieved", and he admitted "yeah, a little.. three songs next week. I don't what I'd do".  

I'm sorry to see Jason go, but at the same time, I'm glad that Syesha, David A or, God forbid, David Cook, didn't accidentally get voted off, caught in the crossfire by Jason fans fiendishly voting to keep him on, when even he knew it was time to go.  People may trash American Idol because it sometimes ends up a popularity contest more than a singing competition, and voters can sit and vote over and over, but I think it usually all equals out in the end. 

You have to give it to AI contestants.. it's not an easy thing they do.  Every week... for however many weeks the show runs..they have to stand up on a stage and sing.  They must learn songs they've never heard in a lot of cases, from artists they aren't familiar with, and do it well.  They then get to stand on a stage in front of the world and get judged on their performance, not only by the 3 judges..(one of whom is Simon Cowell YIKES..) but by millions of people watching the show.  People can say what they want, but that takes guts and lots of determination.  Take a cross section of musicians, past and present, and put them up on a stage in a situation like that, pitted against each other, how many of them would do well?  If that were the criteria for every musician before they got to be signed and be a star.. there are a whoooole lot of people we never would have heard from.  Especially those who suffer from stage fright.. Carly Simon.. even James Taylor and Carole King..Barbra Streisand.. Van Morrison..and I"m sure many more..would they stand up under the pressure?

Nothing too notable happened during the results show, except a fan asked David Cook if he would go on a date with her on her birthday while he was in her town on tour, during the call-in portion.. will he, or won't he.. I hope they let us know if he does!  Other than that, Bo Bice sang.. and Maroon 5 sang.. and that's pretty much it.

Well.. it's almost over for this season's brave competitors.. just 3 left standing, and soon there will be just 2 left to battle it out to the finish.
