The states want to lower the speed limits to save gas.
- Gas is not in short supply.
- Lower the speed limit means more money in the states pockets.
- Lower the speed limit means less money in your pocket.
- The insurance increase alone will kill the already struggling American.
- I'll slow down because I want to, not because some idiot in a state legistlature wants to save me money on gas.
- This is insane.
- Is this still American? Wait while I check.

Traffic deaths increased 15-20 percent last year on interstate highways where the speed limit was raised to 65 m.p.h., according to three soon-to-be-released studies examining the impact of the higher speed limits allowed by federal law in 1987.
The increase in deaths runs counter to the assertions of proponents of the law permitting higher speed limits, who insisted to Congress last year that so many drivers were violating 55 m.p.h. limits anyway that motorists would not drive faster and danger on the highways would not increase.
I think prudent, frugal people will do what it takes to save money.
The rest won't.
By the way, the best way to control the population: fuel/energy, food and water.
Do you think that perhaps things are gearing up for more control?

However, I'm not for it because I'm not for the states telling us what to do. I will slow down to save on gas if I want to. I just want the govenment to stay out of it!
But driving slower is supposed to save on gas.
Driving slower uses less gas.
Since the prices of gas have been clibming, I've reduced my driving speed a lot, and I've only used a half a tank of gas, in a week. Ussually, I'm on empty, by payday.
I don't understand the your reasoning, as to why the insurance rates would go up, due to driving slower.
Um and like Carl J. wrote above, idiot drivers.
