Democratic End-Game?

It's on to the convention

Listening to the Congresswoman made it possible to articulate what's been most disturbing about the Clinton campaign lately. Between saying in essence that it's impossible to be her 'friend' and still disagree that she's the best choice, and manufacturing a controversy to provide a fig leaf for the naked bigotry lurking in what has become her core constituency, Clinton has shown the kind of nasty, vicious, *Nixonian* campaign and administration she is apt to run. We've already been through one Nixon presidency, we don't need to go there again. I hope the superdelegates come to see that clearly.

I thought Joe Andrew captured the essence of today's debate, demonstrated how most politicians need to rethink they're tactics, and why many Americans see Barak as "change". Stay positive, focus on real issues, avoid wasting energy on petty/juvenile bickering. Mr. Andrew did a wonderful job of demonstrating how we can lift the political debate. Who knows what that could lead to?

I truly could not agree more, John and Mark. Right on! I commend Mr. Andrew on his composure and insightful statements, and think Ms. Tubbs-Jones and the Clinton campaign came across precisely as they truly are: divisive, resorting to personal attacks, and evasive on points that really matter, like support for BOTH Democrats over McCain.

When I listen to B. Obama, I don't hear "change," I hear an opportunist recycling an age old campaign tactic. He is a good politician though. During the campaign he both dams Clinton's tactics and engages in them himself. If you want "change," vote for Ralph Nader. If you want experience and progress vote for H. Clinton. If you want experience and a continuation of the conservative agenda, vote for McCain. Obama's supporters have their hearts in the right place, though I think they are naive regarding the nature of his success. Which is why he will be rejected ultimately by democrats. Obama's political and corporate supporters see an empty vessel- a tool- as it were to achieve their goals. They know H. Clinton will hold their feet to the fire, demand results, and because she truly has a progressive agenda, she will have a stronger hand in negotiations and in making compromises.
