Forbes magazine rated OKC the most recession proof city in the nation. We have not felt the terrible times most people are having across the country. I came here in 1979 from New York. My standard of living went high very quickly. We bought our first home in 1980. Housing here is holding it's own. Jobs are secure, and we have the lowest prices on gas in the nation.
While most people can't move, if you can, the movement is "Go West Young Man"
I was shocked to see the price of gas in Texas is twenty cents more a gallon than here. I'm at a loss to explain it. I just thought that if you're willing to uproot as we did, you should know there is a better place to live.
Also, the average cost of housing here is one hundred dollar a square foot including land, and that's holding. So hope you'll give it a try if you like lower prices and lots of sun.

I do believe that's OKC. We do like to spread our wings.
READ ABOUT IT HERE
We don't get to choose where we live right now (My husband is active duty USAF), but if we did, we might consider Oklahoma, though we would probably choose Kentucky or Tennessee instead. We're both from Missouri, so that would be a possibility, too, but I wouldn't want to live too close to either set of parents!
You have a deal. I'll do an article telling why I love this place. Hint: The weather and the people.
