"Look, Faith...some artists are copying Anderson's style. Pull in and let me take some pictures."

In Ocean Springs in radiant colors
blue crabs and red fish swim in a lagoon.
Among the sand dunes where a bitten's
nest lays, a solitary man records with his brush
and his pen in logbooks and watercolors
his visions of the Life Force of Nature
as he endures extreme temperatures
to hurricane winds seeking harmony
and thanksgiving in his mystical quest.

On the side of a garage we found this beautiful mural.

In spirals of white
The tree of life grows
and angels of light
watch over the whole
as intermediaries
between the Creator
and the created
and in the holy instant
all is interconnected.

Thanks so much for posting to my group All Photo Essays Here!
Your article is Featured in the Triple Name Club and in Wednesday Writing Essentials.
I also like murals, wherever they may be. Here in West Oz there are bus shelters painted with them by former graffiti artists.
Of the ones you've posted, I think the last one - the white one - is a knockout ... and your verse fits in beautifully with it. Ten stars from me.
It's a strange thing, jan. Yesterday morn I wrote the beginning paragraph and uploaded the pictures and then just clicked on "save"....then last night I revisited the pictures of the murals after I got off skype. It was about 9 and I had a long day and so I went off to bed. Come about 11 I awoke and grabbed my moleskin and just started writing...then came down stairs to the computer room and pulled up the article, typed frantically, posted and headed off to bed. What was going to be a prose article turned into a poem...God only knows how!
Is it not strange
that through your
admiration for a
solitary artist, a
Yankee becomes
enlightened.
Ocean Springs is a unique community. Visit the W.I. Anderson museum, Shearwater Pottery, the waterfront where shrimp boats come home and the neatest little Greek restaurant where the food is delightful.
You know poetry does not come easily to me and so I am completely blown away each time I pick up my moleskin and these words write themselves. I think I must be hangin' around with faith, jan and you too much!
I hope everything went well yesterday. We missed you and Breezy in the morn. Need to get my ass in gear and get out the door....it's 8:23!
Gotta run.
You enhanced every one of these works. Thank you.
She was always there
You let her in
So now prepare
To feed her well
And love her so
Your poetry now will
Flourish and grow
Where was she hiding all these years? My muse, I mean?
Thank you for your kind words.
Thanks for stopping by this evening. I bow to you.
I love taking you along girl cause I know you really appreciate so many of the things I do. It's fun sharing the things I stumble upon.
Your poetry is a perfect accompaniment to the pictures.
Thank you for sharing - these murals are truly stunning works of art.
I found it amazing the last mural...imagine being on an old garage. I loved it!
