Who can forget the 1976 prom at Carrie's high school? If you saw the movie,
you know what I mean. The moment she's crowned Prom Queen and drenched in
pig's blood is my first and last horror film memory. I never saw another.
And when it came time for my own prom, I was glad we didn't have a queen!

'Prom Night,' a 2008 horror film, has similarly frightened audiences (and
probably more than one prom goer). Donna's senior prom is supposed to be the
best night of her life, one of "magic, beauty, and love." It, simply put, is NOT.

Here are five other films in which the prom figures prominently:

FOOTLOOSE. Plot: A city boy comes to a small town where rock music and
dancing have been banned.

PRETTY IN PINK. Plot: High school social cliques and, of course, a pink
dress bought at a thrift store.

AMERICAN PIE. Plot: Four teenage boys enter a pact to lose their virginity
by prom night.

SHE'S ALL THAT. Plot: A high school jock makes a bet that he can turn an
unattractive girl into the school's prom queen.

NEVER BEEN KISSED. Plot: A journalist enrolls in her old high school as
part of her research for a story and becomes prom queen.
Are any of these the plot of your prom? Do any of these spark a memory?
(Please don't say Carrie!)
