At 17, hearing you're pregnant must have been frightening. Given the opportunity to have an abortion, you decided to keep your child. Your parents forced you into a loveless marriage with a man who was too busy being an alcoholic, to be a good husband.
As his drinking and violent behavior increased, you had the courage to escape with your children. Even after you left, he followed, blowing up his car in front of your new home. You worked hard supporting your children with no help from their father.
Though there were many moves as you struggled financially, you always managed to keep a roof over your children's heads. There was always food in the house and clothes on their backs. You struggled until, one day you found the man of your dreams. He was everything your first husband was not.
For the first time, there was stability in your life. You finally had the life you deserved. As your 38th birthday and Mother's day approached, your children planned a celebration.
On April 30, you came home from work as you'd done for years. While preparing for dinner, you suffered a terrible headache. Moments later, you were unconscious. The ambulance came and sped you off to the hospital.
Your family gathered at the hospital and waited anxiously for a report. An aneurysm ruptured in your head. If the swelling goes down, they can operate. Days go by and your beautiful brown eyes never open again. May 12th while your daughter was at your bedside, you held on even when your body was ready to give up. You wouldn't let your daughter see you die.
Early on the morning of May 13, you died. You were only 37 years old.
As another Mother's Day approaches, I just want to thank you for everything you did for me, the sacrifices you made.
I love you Mom.
Your Daughter
