What are these birds?

Here are some pictures I was able to take awhile back on a bird we see alot along the waters down here in Florida. It was amazing watching them as the flew and fed.

A pelican you see them a lot in the south. But I once saw them as far north as Yellowstone National Park, WY. I was shocked.

My husband said it was a pelican. He said I should know because it's the Louisiana state bird. (We live in Louisiana.)
