STIR ME LORD
Stir me Lord ... to long
I long to long for You
My heart is cold and dry
There's nothing I can do
To change my twisted selfish self
And turn my heart toward You
But Wait - I remember what you said . . .
"Toward what treasure I set my face
That will my longing heart embrace"
I'll turn toward You, that's why you came
My cold and empty heart to tame
You'll stir my ashes into flame

large destructive fire: a large fire that causes a great deal of damage
I'm not really sure that's what I'm looking for :):)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my poetry.
The thing I like about it is that it is truth. He really does take it upon Himself to stir our love when we ask. I know most of you already know that. It is such a relief.
most favorite. God bless
Ps 8:4 What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? NASU And yet He has decided to create a family for Himself of any person choosing to be borninto His family.
I came, I saw and was conquered.
I'm so pleased to have met you and have read something of yours. Now I won't rest until I've read more of you.
I know how God stirs one's heart. I love Him for doing that.
What does Salud mean? It must be something good, I see you it in every post :)
Thanks for coming back reading my poem. I found one by George MacDonald on the same subject.
The Smoke
Lord, I have laid my heart upon Thy altar
But cannot get the wood to burn
It hardly flares ere it begins to falter
And to the dark return
Old sap, or night-fallen dew, has damped the fuel
In vain my breath would flame provoke
Yet see - at every poor attempt's renewal
To Thee ascends the smoke
Tis all I have - smoke, failure, foiled endeavor
Coldness, and doubt, and palsied lack
Such as I have I send Thee Perfect TGiver
Send Thou Thy lightning back
George MacDonald
Would you like this poem to be featured in print in Scattered Pieces of Mind?
I'd love to publish it, if that's alright with you :-)
(I think Salud means "good health" or something like that, I'm not sure though.)
I SEE the FLAME!
Excellently written.
Blessings ~

You did good on your new endeavor.
and I love THIS line:
Aren't you glad we have a God that desires us even more than we desire HIm?
thanks for your work.
I wish I was going to Kansas. maybe next time;)
I wish you well on your trip. I hope it's exciting and all goes well.
I'll see you when you pass my way. :)
I'm glad He made a way home.
I cry as I repeat this story. He said he was so nervous he kept trying to pray. But he was only playing a game. He couldn't make contact with God or even believe at that moment. On the highway, he pulled over off the road as he began to cry. We'll never know what happened in that car, but my son in law talked to God that day by the side of the road. God's presence was in him and around him. When it was just a moment and it was over. He pulled back out on the highway. He said it was so strange. He was so happy he didn't even care how the problem turned out. And then his cell phone rang ... the problem had been solved in a way that was better than when it started.
He may forget what the problem was. As we look back over our lives we don't really remember what it was that gave us knots in our stomach monthly. But he will never forget Got stirring his ashes into flame.
Thanks again for the encouragment.

Please, anyone wanting to know what the Bible teaches about knowing Christ, feel free to ask on line or send a private email. He is SO worth knowing.
1 - 2 - 3 - GO.
I loved the poem by George McDonald. It touched me deeply because that is the same problem that I have (as you so eloquently expressed in your poem). I try to make contact with God and many times I feel so discouraged because with my not so perfect eyes I don't see any response to my prayers. Nevertheless I will not quit and I appreciate knowing that there is other people that share this problem with me. I do believe that God answers prayer. Maybe not the way we are looking for but He does hear and answer prayer.
Keep up the good work, Glome. You are an inspiration to me and others.
Thanks again for coming back Harrel.
Thanks for coming back to read and for commenting.
Don’t follow your inclinations and strength and pursue all the desires of your heart.
Don’t say, “No one is more powerful than I am,” for the LORD will surely punish you.
Don’t say, “I have sinned, yet nothing has happened to me,” for the LORD is simply being patient with you.
Don’t be so sure you sin is forgiven that you continue to heap sin upon sin.
Don’t say, “The mercy of the LORD is great, so I can keep sinning and receive forgiveness.”
For the Lord show both mercy and anger, and He will become angry with sinners.
Don’t wait to return to the LORD; don’t put it off one day longer.
For the LORD’s anger will come suddenly upon you, and in time of punishment you will be destroyed.
Don’t take comfort in ill-gotten wealth, for it will not help you in the day of disaster.
Don’t winnow in every wind or follow every path.
Stand firm for what you know and be a person of your word.
Be quick to hear and slow to answer.
If you know what to say, answer your neighbour’s questions; but if you don’t, keep quiet.
What you say either brings honour or dishonour, and the tongue may bring a person’s downfall.
Don’t gain a reputation as a slanderer, and don’t try to trap people in what you say.
For shame awaits the thief, and condemnation comes to those who speak out of both sides of their mouth.
Be careful not to offend others in matters great or small, and don’t be an enemy instead of a friend.
