Nest building~

The Blue Herons are mating and nest building up in the trees.  I got shots from different angles.

This last photo shows one with nesting material in it's beak.

Wow! That's great. Around here they're so secretive I hardly ever see them except to see them flying away.
the Blue Herons have been very active on our lake lately. I've never seen a heron nest though~

We have a pair that were hanging around in our field for the last couple of months. We just got a horse in that field today, so we will see if the birds stay around.

Beautiful and amazing. We don't have birds this large and when I look at this one I think it just has to be too big to sit in a tree, yet there he is.

Are they close to your home?

We have a tree in a local nature park that is on a small island. Every year many herons build nests in it. It's an amazing thing to see.
