Deborah Jeane Palfrey, aka the DC Madam, allegedly committed sucide, so is the official story, after Palfrey was found hanging, last Thursday, May 1st, 2008, in Tarpon Springs, Florida on her mother's property.
As operator of an escort service that catored to the upper crust of Washington politicos, Palfrey became an over night celebrity , when she was arrested for racketeering and money laundering, steming from her alleged prostitution ring. Her little black book, allegededly contained many big named Washington insiders and high profile celebs and polticians, which made many individuals nervous.
Last year, Brandy Britton, one of Palfrey's employees also allgedly committed sucide by hanging. At the time Palfrey, was quoted as saying "I guess I'm made of something that Brandy Britton wasn't made of." Does this sound like someone contemplating sucide? Does, the fact that these two woman, ssupposedly chose to comitt sucide using the same method, sound suspicious, or is it just me?
Studies tend to show that woman are less likely to commit sucide. They tend to conclude that woman comitt sucide at or about three fouths less often than men. Studies also show that women tend to choose poison over other means, in fact less than 38 percent of woman use hanging as means to commit sucide. Yet here we have to woman, with different personalities and who knew each other, who apperantly chose the same method. Again, sounds a little suspicious to me.
Deborah Jeane Palfrey, was facing a prison sentence of five years or less for good behavior. In the days before she was supposed to turn herself in for her sentence, she told many friends, family and business collegues, that she had no intention of committing sucide as did Brandy Britton.
All this sounds a little convient for my taste. But as in most things that happen in D.C. , it will be buried and forgotten, along with the many secrets that keep Washington running. One more thing, why weren't any of the individuals who paid for sex, ever prosecuted?
