Summer 2005 was the first summer I lived on my own. I moved into an apartment with two friends, Nathan and Daniel, for the summer (we also had an imaginary roommate we named Carlos). Living on your own for the first time can be an adventure, so I recorded the adventures and am now sharing them on Gather. All these adventures are absolutely true (except for the parts I make up). Read the adventure that started it all.
Random is good. My friend Dempsey and I were bored, so we drove to Oklahoma City with the intention to visit some stores. As we were passing Tinker Air Force Base, we noticed a lot of cars on the side of the road and some emergency vehicles. We stopped to ask the people in the haz-mat truck if an air show was going on. Sure enough, Tinker was putting on an air show that was starting in five minutes.
Dempsey and I stayed and watched the planes. There was an awesome mock dog fight between two prop planes. There was an annoying old guy that stood beside us. You know the kind I'm talking about. He talked to us about all the planes even though we were not talking to him. Then the ice cream truck drove right through all the cars lined up watching the show. Is it their job to be the most annoying people on earth? Dempsey remarked that it was times like those he wished he had a personal rocket launcher.
Speaking of personal rocket launchers, we watched a show on National Geographic about private collectors who own their own tanks. I want to drive a tank. My own tank is second on my list of things I'd really like to own some day. A personal gorilla is on the top of the list.
Back to the air show: Ominous, dark buses drove back and forth inside Tinker's gates the entire show. What exactly goes on there? Area 51 is just a cover to draw our attention away from the seemingly average military bases.
