It's my mantra.
:)
You see the "Yeah, but..!" generally meant they were formulating a reason (read excuse) as to why the "poorly executed maneuver" was caused by some circumstance beyond their control and so "wasn't really their fault" (Note: Not really very different from the old Flip Wilson line, "The devil made me do it!).
At that point I would generally stop the instruction and suggest something to the effect that "if that were true, then whatever had caused their particular problem or mistake would continue to do so, over and over, until they finally took responsibility for flying the aircraft (instead of letting the aircraft fly them), saw how that circumstance had affected their performance, anticipated it's reoccurrence, learned from their mistake and corrected accordingly the next time."
Of course, the same principle applies to life in general and personal relationships in particular.
