Thursday night as usual, Walter came home with a stressful day of waking up a little late, but arriving to work on time, but not able to cash his check. So, I had my father help cash the check for us. Walter was relieved about that and I asked him to buy Gracee a binky, since I had forgotten one and she is screaming non-stop with Dad and I. We showed Gracee off to co-workers, left shortly after handing him all cash of his paycheck and only thinking he will hand me a few dollars, he hands me a $20 dollar bill to my surprise. I ask him if we'll have enough money for groceries and everything and he stated yes.
We left his work. Got Gracee her pacifier and she hated it the WHOLE drive home and kept spitting it out. Perhaps it wasn't broke in? ::Sighs:: 30 minutes of non-stop screaming in the carseat. I had to turn the radio up a bit because I well knew, she wanted out of that dang thing, but its illegal to have her out of a car seat while driving.
Anyway.. night time came, Walter came home around 12 a.m., usually gets off work around 11p.m. We debated what we wanted to eat and me being pregnant AGAIN, I was craving a cheese burger, so I asked him to stop at Mc. Donalds and no, he had to argue, "I want Steak N Shake", and I told him, "its too expensive and I barely get any fries!" I continue, "Let's eat at Denny's instead!"
He replies, "No, its on the other side of town, Michelle. I need to save gas." My response, "But they give more fries?!"
He pulls in Steak N Shake and I complain as I'm getting out of the car.
"I won't get many fries here," I complain.
Walter response, "Well, its okay, you can order a little more. I have 20 and you can pitch in your 7 that you have left."
"Ok fine," I reply.
"Shhhh.. be quiet," he gives me that look, since a co-worker came out to talk to his girl friend (keep in mind, he is our waiter). Not sure if he heard me or not.
We go in... as soon as we walk in, our waiter says,
"Sit anywhere you like. Pick a seat. Any seat!"
He had the sign "Please Wait To Be Seated" near the window.
I sit down and we get Gracee snuggled beside Daddy in a booth.
Its about 1 am as we arrive. So it has begun Friday, May 1st.
After sitting down, about 7-8 college kids walk in...
He tells them,
"Sit anywhere you like. Anywhere. You pick and choose. No restictions on seating!"
They all laugh and chuckle and and sit down at a long table.
Soon after that, previous co-workers walk in that Walter knows and they say, "Hey bud, what's up?"
I thought, "WOW, cool! People Walter knows!," and smile.
They sit behind us a little.
He does and takes the order of the college kids.
"Oh, I'd like some cheesefries," a college kid states.
"They're FREE!," the waiter states.
The one ordering says, "They're FREE?", another budges in, "FREE?", another budges again, "FREE, are you serious?"
The waiter states, "Yes, it depends who's working. They're FREE! Its on the house. Order what you want!"
The college kids order a lot of food.
Before he comes over to my table, I'm whispering to Walt,
"He is giving them FREE food?"
Walter states, "Oh, he probably knows them, that's why, a deal for his friends."
I order a ......
A Vanilla shake
FRISCO melt meal and he asks,
"What two sides would you like?"
I tell him, "Two orders or fries, I hardly never get any fries."
He yells at the cook,
"Drop two bags of fries!!!," he smiles.
"What else would you like?," he asks.
"Well, I'd like an order of onion rings on the side. How much would that cost?," I look at him.
He states. "Its FREE, its on the house! Don't worry about it," he smiles.
"The onion rings are FREE," I state.
He smiles.
"No, the whole order," he replies.
My mouth drops WIDE open, and I just can't believe, he's giving all this food away for FREE. I never had anything FREE in my life as my father has taught me to pay for everything, not steal and that type of deal.
Walter orders his food and soon after, he brings the college kids food and Walter says, "Dang, look at all those fries!,"
I look over there and smile, silently.
He soon after bring our plates of food out (bring me TWO big plates of fries and a medium plate of onion rings).
Walter gets his dish of chili, bacon and cheese sandwich, fries, and coke.
Walter smiles and says, "If I knew it was FREE, I would have ordered a chocolate shake," he laughed.
Our waiter after 10 minutes, comes back and says,
"want anymore food?,"
I have this disbelief look on my face and hurry and shake my head "no."
Even though, I wanted to order another sandwich from being pregnant, but I didn't want him to just say, "its free" again. So I didn't order anything else. I didn't know how to react, that's why I hurried and shook my head "no."
Everything was FREE.
When leaving, Walter told me the college kids NEVER left ANY tip at all. How can parents even teach their children or young adults to not appreciate stuff well done and not to leave a tip? Who know's?
Walter's friends left $3 as I saw. And as for ourselves, I handed the man (our waiter) a 5 dollar bill and he instantly grabbed it like he "needed the money."
With high gas prices, most likely restaurants here MUST be giving people a break because.........
I called Mom, bragging about FREE food and she said the same day, she went to Mc. Donalds ordered two Big Mac meals and two double cheeseburgers and the guy said, "Hey, what's happening?," at the window and she said, "High gas prices!," as my mother's response.
The man handed mom back change and Mom took a SECOND glance that he only charged her $1.08 for everything she ordered. WOW. $1.08 for two meals and two double cheeseburgers? What a bargain!
As she was about to drive away, the man stated,
"Hasta luego!,"
Mom asked me what that meant, since I use to take Spanish and I told her,
"It means, See you Later!, Mom.," I smiled, talking on the phone to Mom.
It's funny...
Now my ultimate question.... Did you get FREE food on May 1st? Was it a gas relief day of FREE food or was it just a special at restaurants? Who will ever figure it out? I can't stop laughing that restaurants would just give FREE food to people.

I think telling the waiter about the car that hit our house on 4/19 helped. He saw it on the local news. He said he made a mistake and smiled, saying he didn't want to fix it.
We are no longer in a motel room, we rented a house for 3 months...but that was so nice.
Today I went to a yard sale and the lady there gave me a free sewing machine. I am very blessed. God is good! (neither the teenagers in the car, my daughter and her friends, and me and my husband were injured when the car hit our house.)
Good deal just the same. :)
n shake... woohoo...
I wonder if it was a guy that was really angry and planning on not coming back after that night?!?
