Strike number two - In as many days.
First Senator McCain said that the Minnesota "collapsed because so much money was spent on wasteful, unnecessary pork-barrel projects." Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty told reporters on Thursday that he left a message with McCain campaign staffers to remind them that the investigation into the cause of the bridge collapse is not complete but that early indications suggested the disaster was caused by design flaws and weight distribution from construction on the bridge at the time, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune. Get it Senator? Design flaw - weight distribution - Ever heard of cyclic loading or fatigue, Senator? Maybe you should stick with the war.
McCain backtracked his assertion a day later, saying: "Do I know specifically whether it would have replaced that bridge in Minneapolis? No, but I know that funding would have been available for higher-priority projects." It is also worth noting that bridges are maintained using the gas tax that McCain has proposed to suspend for three months. The idea is to provide a relief that would save the average driver 5 to 20 bucks a month while costing the government $10 billion for roadway and transportation projects.
Second strike happened yesterday. Senator McCain said the following:
"My friends, I will have an energy policy that we will be talking about, which will eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East that will -- that will then prevent us -- that will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East"
The theme of this campaign has been 'TAKEN OF OUT CONTEXT.' So here are his words unedited. The thing is, 'Straight Talk Express' is speaking the truth about this government real motives. He is correct. We are fighting there because of oil. They never want to admit it however. They've been selling this 'Spreading Democracy' thing that can be used on the 'Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader' show. Clearly, the 5th graders know why we are in Iraq even before McCain's Freudian slip.
He backed off on that one too:
"No, no, I was talking about that we had fought the Gulf War for several reasons"
"The word 'again' was misconstrued, I want us to remove our dependency on foreign oil for national security reasons, and that's all I mean,"
Misspoke, Misconstrued, Mis(Anything you catch me saying or doing)
"The Congressional Record is very clear: I said we went to war in Iraq because of weapons of mass destruction," he also said.
Keep TALKING Senator. You have to. You are the nominee. Can't wait until this guy starts debating on any topic that is not the WAR.

Also I feel sorry for all of these guys (even the dem's) they have to watch EVERY word they say, they can't speak from the stump without rehearsing, for fear of saying one politically controversial word. If I ran for office, I'd be quick to piss off about 60-70% of the country like that and before my term would be up I'd piss off everyone at least twice! Good thing I'm not running.
Anyway, I'm not happy with the dems trying to be my mommy and protect me from the real world. McCain is trying to be our adviser/bodyguard. He's giving us options to help ourselves, and if someone try to hurt us physically, he is there to knock em out.
