Economy Rice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My roomate and I went into the local Superwalmart the other day and all the rice had been portioned out.  U  could not but buy it in a box are bag . Yes here in good old South West FLORIDA. They portioning bags of rice in all stores Because the ECONOMY is that BAD. !!!  What is it like were u all live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please tell?     Is it really getting this bad?

Rice is being limited here in Georgia also. It's creating an unnecessary scare.

I need to buy rice next week, so I hope my store have not begun rationing. I am in South East Florida though, so they probably have.

I didn't notice anything yet at our Walmart in Pa. I don't eat rice, so I won't be affected.

We can no longer get the larger bags of rice (the kind of rice he uses to make sushi with). While we were at the store we stocked up on flour and assorted things which now live in our freezer. I hope this is just a scare.

Economy is bad, but we bought 2 boxes rice without hassles 2 weeks ago. Granted they were smaller boxes, but still no rations that I've seen.

I hadn't noticed yet, but I haven't tried to buy rice either. It is kind of scary!

I heard the same thing here but I haven't tried to buy rice. It seems crazy to me when the government has been giving out surplus rice in food help programs for a long time.

The problem is generated by the media. There is plenty of rice. The president of Costco said that they had to start limiting purchases of Rice because of the run on their stocks. They sold FOUR TIMES the amount of rice that they normally sell over the past two weeks; THAT is what is creating the shortage. It's not too little rice, it's a scared-high demand.

The price of rice isn't that much more than normal, and they certainly aren't rationing at my local markets.

I've been stockpiling supplies for almost a year now. We don't have rationing yet, but I believe it's coming, and I intend to be ready.

Rice is expensive, I did notice there aren't large bags available. Looking into growing your own may start to look appealing.

I haven't heard of portioning out rice. Wow. Not here in NJ. I find it in bags, boxes, normal packaging.
