A BETTER MORNING THAN I THOUGHT..........

I wake up in the morning
To the sound of raindrops
playing music on the window
and the smell of flowers drifting through the blind
As I stretch my arms above my head
And sit up on the bedside
A clap of thunder startles me
And knocks away the cobwebs from my mind
So I stumble to the kitchen
To put a pot of coffee on
And think about the day ahead
Then wonder if I should have stayed in bed
But I make myself some breakfast
And I pour myself a second cup
Then I rummage through the closet
To find myself some clothes to wear instead
Soon I pull out of the driveway
And I hit the morning traffic
In the middle of a rainstorm
With my breakfast doing flipflops in my gut
And I suddenly remembered
I'd forgotten my umbrella
But I make it to the office
Hurry to my desk and plop down on my butt
As I stare down at the papers
That are stacked up in my inbox
And I think about the job I do
From nine a.m. till sometimes after five
Then I pause for just a moment
To say a little silent prayer
And make a point of telling God
How thankful I am to Him for just keeping me alive
