Memorial Day "Honor a Soldier" Contest - Get Your Tribute Featured and Win a $100 Gift Card

Courage. Honor. Strength. These are some of the words that epitomize the soldiers who are serving and those who've given their lives for our freedom. And each Memorial Day, we pay tribute to those men and women who've died in combat, recognizing their valor. This year, we want to give you the chance to create a tribute for these brave souls who have passed and those who are serving in the "Honor a Soldier" Contest.

Whether a poem, essay, or testimonial is your style, express yourself and show our heroes how deeply appreciated they are. The Gather community will vote to determine the 10 most touching tributes. These 10 will be posted to the Paralyzed Veterans of America's website at www.pva.org\remembrance. From there, the Gather Editorial Team will choose a Grand Prize Winner, who'll receive a $100 American Express Gift Card to be used as a charitable donation, or any other way the winner chooses.

How to Enter

It's easy to participate in the "Honor a Soldier" Contest. First, join the Support Veterans group at veterans.gather.com.  Join now!

Share your essay, poem, or other tribute – which should be between 250 and 500 words – following these quick steps:

• Click "Publish" at the top of any Gather page
• Select "Publish an Article";you may type directly into the body of the submission page or copy and paste in your entry, if you have written it elsewhere
• In the "Tags" field, you must insert the tag"honor" separated from any other tags by a comma 
• Under "Who can view my article," you must select "Everyone" and the "Support Veterans" group
• Under "Rating and Commenting Options," you must select "Allow ratings on this article"
• Click "Publish"

All entries must be received by 11:59pm ET on May 21, 2008. The Gather community will vote to determine the top 10 entries, which will be posted to www.pva.org\remembrance. Then the Gather Editorial Team will choose the Grand Prize Winner, who'll receive a $100 American Express Gift Card.
