May means birthday cake for me, woo! I think I am going to get 40 fat iced roses on my cake this year and eat every single one of them. Then of course I will have to go walking to work it all off.

It's almost your birthing day!

May to me still excites me because it's the month school will be out. Even though I've not gone to school in many a moon, I hated it so much that the feeling still lingers.

May is helicopter month. We have a huge old maple tree and this month the seed pods will mature and come whirling to the ground like hundreds of helicopters. If you put them long ways across your lips, you can make them whistle.

May always meant fishing when I was a kid. We usually made our first fishing trips in May when the water got warm enough for the fish to start biting.

May always meant putting in the tomato and pepper plants in my Dad's garden. His secret to having the hugest tomatoes in the neighborhood - a tablespoon of Epson Salts in each hole before plopping in the tomato roots.

May meant Prom for a couple of years, and graduation, and of course, parties, parties, parties.

May means flowers and pre-flowers jumping up all over the place. And if it's a chilly month, like this year, it means morel mushrooms, the most perfect food God ever made.

Yay. I was born in May, but I was born in Iowa. Oh Well. Salud back !!!!

To me, May means flowers in bloom, the stretches of forsythia and azalea. Blossoms on fruit trees, especially apple and peach. The bulbs in bloom and roses getting started. Herbs in the pots on the balcony starting to look like themselves.

Today the whole rest of the world is celebrating May Day, and everybody but the bartenders is off work throughout Europe. When I lived in MAdrid, I remember watching a parade down calle Princesa in the morning and then heading to Casa del Campo on the western outskirts for a picnic with my friends. If we felt especially flush, we might go to the nearby amusement park in the early evening.

What's wrong with us???

May 1st is also my Mother's and my Aunt's birthdays, and the very next weekend we have Mothers Day, so it's everything at once! I am happy to have her (my Mother) to celebrate it all! Have a very Happy May Day, Mariana ~ and a Happy Birthday when you get to it!

Like you, May heralds in the season of blooms. Each day finds me out in the gardens, changing things on a continuing basis. I get my sustenance from putting my hands in the dirt.

I'm always envious of you May babies! May is such a glorious start to the gardening season in the Northeast, even though in our area, it also brings the black flies - but just for a few weeks. May means green everywhere, and maybe even a dip in the pond - and the start of the Farmer's Market season! Joyous birth-day, Mariana!

What a lovely photo Ms. Mariana! I used to bring May Day flowers to my mom from the neighborhood gardens. When I was a little older, I would walk to the florist not too far from our house and she would sell me a flower in a bud vase with a ribbon for .89! I now know she was being kind to the little 11 or 12 year old me. As I got older, the flowers became a little nicer and I would still ring the bell and run away. Now, my mom is in Florida-she made me stop sending them when they got so expensive, but I still called and wished her a Happy May Day. Hubby left me a yellow tulip in a vase on the counter.

May is gardening season here after the long days of winter :)

May is a month for me with a lot of memories, Of course mother's day is always in May, so somewhere in there, there is my day, May 20 is the anniversary of my daughter's second marriage , and also the anniversary of my father's passing, and May 29 is my husband's birthday, so get set all, and of course May 30 is Memorial Day, and there is always something for that, oh and I have a grand daughter Linda born on May 10. I better stop thinking.

My bow to you for that fantastic title. May is the month of hopes, I believe. We have rains during June, when the greens start sprouting and the earth looks gorgeous. Greetings to you in advance for your birthday, Mariana.
