...to be finished working at the college.
I am tempted to ~finish~ right now.
Was in yesterday to HR to find out why my benefit claim was rejected.... today - May 1 ...they finally thought to mention that because I had more than a 6 month break between benefits, I had to do the waiting period again... so I got to pay for 4 months worth of benefits - and everything I did before March 1 is denied. $650 worth of prescription refills...some of which I would not have bothered with - all denied.
thank goodness I didn't do the glasses and orthotics until April, or those would be disallowed also.
if I had known, I would have gone in yesterday and got all of my prescriptions for inhalers filled again YESTERDAY so that at least I would get one free batch out of the stoopid benefits... but by not telling me until my first day of NO MORE benefits, I can't even do that. Bitch!
AND I am also highly perturbed about the fact that I am now teaching 3 classes - each 3 hours long.... and no two on the same day.
So I ~get~ to drive 82 km round trip, and pay for parking, 3x /week.
All 3 sections could easily fit into 1 day ... if they gave a crap. At least they could put 2 on the same day. But no, I'm to teach Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. With gas at $1.20+ a litre (that's more than $5/gal) - AND not having at least 7 hours of 'real' classes (part time studies courses don't count) I get no benefits, half the hourly wage, AND I'm to drive down there for 3 hours a day at half the money .... I am not impressed.
In fact, I am thinking that I should send an email asking that the night class be changed to Tuesday and if that is not possible, saying thanks but no thanks to it. Ross says I should tell them to stick all 3 classes... it's a little late now.
But I am PISSED OFF.
Maybe it's all good - at least they've made it so that leaving at the end of this semester to go to Trent is something to celebrate.

2 daytime plus 1 nighttime doesn't count, even though it's the same number of freaking hours
there is a move to unionize pt college teachers in Ontario... WAY past due if you ask me
i like ross probably would have said the same thing about telling them politely where they could stick the classes.
emailed asking for the evening class to be changed... no response yet... and then I went to check my mail and assuming I can work something out with the student loans people, I am going to be in much better shape financially than I thought SOON... waiting for a phone call
I am in agony waiting for the phone to ring to find out which it's going to be.
When I was the greenhouse manager for a large, wholesale nursery (where I worked for 10 years), the owner (grandson of the original founders who couldn't make it doing actual work in the "real world" so he had to work for his family) would pick arbitrary days not to have anyone come in (so he didn't have to pay anybody that day...). As the manager, I had to break the news to all the greenhouse workers who were working for PEANUTS anyway that their checks would be one day short for that week (WONDERFUL...).
Anyway, so, one time he picks our payday and so I said, "Oh... So will we be getting paid the day before then so we don't all have to drive all the way here just to pick up our checks?"
He EXPLODES and starts yelling at me that, NO, we'll all just have to make special trips... I told him that a lot of the ladies that worked for me didn't drive and had to make special arrangements to have someone bring them to work and stuff... He says, "I don't give a ****! They can come in and get their checks or wait til Monday!"
He lived in a really NICE double wide trailer about 25 STEPS from the front door of the nursery... I said, "You know, not all of us can just walk out our front door and be at work like you can. Must be nice..."
Cars are very expensive.
