I wasn't going to publish another American Idol article tonight, since I did one earlier today, I was just going to add an addendum with a few notes and something confirming that I was right about who would be leaving tonight, but there is a few things I wanted to add, and it would have made the other article really long, so I thought this would be better. There was a few things I really wanted to comment on that happened during the show.. it was pretty eventful tonight, actually.
Ryan stood up at the beginning of the show, and I thought it was really sweet that he made it a point to defend Paula about the rumors about last night. He said the rumors aren't true, and she is part of their family. Then again, he maybe didn't watch TMZ when they showed her slurring her words outside of a restaurant earlier that afternoon. They did say that only one martini was delivered to the table she was at, and there's no proof she actually drank it. She, according to her publicist, does not drink. it has been said she is in a lot of pain from dancing injuries and takes meds, and they, of course, released the explanation that she had heard the rehearsal..so, who knows. But, I guess mistakes happen to everyone, and she was confused, leave it at that. I like Paula, loopy or not, she's very sweet. On the other hand, Ryan's comment about Simon wants to nail her or whatever he said, that was kinda crude. LOL Simon didn't deny it though. LOL
Ryan also went out into the audience to talk to Constantine about their new Idol review show, and that was cool, but was that Ace Young a few rows in front of them that he just brushed by, or am I seeing things? That was pretty funny..he looked like he was getting ready to talk ..and then ""whoosh"" he walked by him and his face just fell.. I would much rather look at and hear Ace than Constantine..though Constantine aint too bad either. Later on, after they announced who was leaving, I saw Kristy Lee Cook in the audience, too.
Neil Diamond sang tonight, "Pretty Amazing Grace".. great song!.. I love Neil Diamond.. grew up listening to him and singing his songs, and I love "The Jazz Singer". Another movie I love is "Saving Silverman", Jack Black, Amanda Peet, and Jason Biggs are in it..and Neil is in it. I won't go through the plot, maybe I'll do a review another day, but it's a pretty funny movie.
Then during the phone call segment, who should call but Simon's first crush!! Tara somebody, called to announce to the world about him kissing her at 9 years old.. he looked genuinely happy to hear from her. Maybe they'll hook up and rekindle a little childhood romance!
So, about the actual contestants and the actual performances of the evening. I love at the beginning of the shows when they all sing together.. They always sound so good together, and it's easier to see the voices and how they stack up against each other when they're side by side and singing the same song. They sang a medley of Neil Diamond songs.. Poor Syesha had some mic problems, hers wasn't working through most of the performance. .and I think it kinda threw her, she wasn't singing too well, but to her credit, she kept on singing and didn't let it stop her. She wasn't spectacular, but she got better once her mic was fixed. Brooke sounded really good. I thought David A was really great.. he was having fun, and Jason sounded great too. and then it was David Cook's turn. It's funny how the others all sing, and they're perfectly fine.but then he chimes in and it's like a whole other league from the others.. Yep, he is clearly the rising star in this group. No doubt about it.
The first one they brought out to hear his fate was Jason, he looked nervous, he wasn't sure which way it was gonna go for him.. he was first to sing, and that's sometimes a bad thing. He was very relieved to hear he was safe! I'm glad to see Jason is safe, at least one more week. I really enjoy him..not just cuz he's pretty, but because I enjoy watching him perform..really, I swear. hehehe
Then they brought out David A.. of course, he was safe, that's no surprise to anyone, and next David Cook, he could have just bypassed the announcement and went straight to the sofa, we knew how that was gonna turn out, why waste the time.
So, then they bring out Syesha and Brooke..and the tension is thick. Not that it matters, it's not a fashion show, but am I the only one who didnt like Syesha's dress at all.. ?..the top and pattern were okay, but I hate that kind of hem.. just had to get that in there. Not that anyone cares LOL
So, they're both standing there, both looking very nervous...and it's still early, so Ryan plays his typical cat and mouse games with them, and makes them go sit down and wait in agony and listen to Natasha Bedinglield sing, do the phone calls, etc, Neil sings.. and then he brings them both back up in the last few minutes of the show, and the verdict is in.. Syesha is safe.. and Brooke is, indeed, the one sent packing.
Brooke knew it was going to be her, I'm sure. I wonder if they follow the reviews online after the show? If they do..if they Google themselves and read the message boards and stuff, they probably feel like crap seeing stuff people say about them sometimes. But, that's the price of fame. I felt so bad for her. I really loved getting to see her ending video.. she's so sweet. Then they made her sing, of course. It's hard to sing and cry at the same time.. I know, I've done it. LOL That's actually really mean how they make them do that, if you think about it. Well, you're outta here, and we know you're an emotional wreck, but could ya stand here while you're dying inside and sing us a song. I'm sure they don't mean it that way, it's just a last chance for their fans to hear them, but it's gotta hurt.
So, anyway, the deed is done, the axe has fallen, and Brooke has been sent on her merry way. .and then there was 4.. Who will it be next week?
