Okay, I know it's a couple weeks premature, and there could still be some surprises ahead.. someone could pull a rabbit outta their.. ..hat.. but, unless something really big happens, I think this announcement could be quite prophetic. There are very few weeks left to go in this season, we're down to just 5, and the talent pool is dwindling. This season on American Idol, we got to choose between some very talented individuals. There were no Sanjayas, in my opinion, in this year's top 12, or even the top 20, really. In any singing/performing contest, there will always be those who are talented and/or great performers, but not spectacular, and then there are those who blow you away.. from what I'm seeing, and in my opinion too, this season's leader of the pack, by a mile, is David Cook. Even though Paula was a little loopy last night, her announcement that, "I feel like I'm looking at the next American Idol", or whatever she said, seems to be the concensus for most people.
I have spent some time this morning poking around online, checking out some polls, and reading reviews, and the overwhelming majority of them put David Cook as the man to beat, by a LOT. I figured David A. was close on his heels, but some of them have him way farther behind than you would guess. Then, of course, there was one poll, at Votenumber1.com that has David A. way ahead of the rest of the pack, so I'm guessing that site is mostly frequented by the teenyboppers who are his demographic. The AOL poll had David C as winner, and David A. second. I would tend to think that would be a much more accurate picture of the state of things. I don't love David A. I think he has a great voice, but he's so smarmy..but, lots of people, apparently, really like him, and he's sure to be a big success. Actually, I'd kinda rather see him win than David C, because I think David C. would do much better on his own, rather than locked into the American Idol contract..but he deserves to win, so I think he should get to.
The thing that is not so clear, is which of the remaining "bottom 3" is considered to be the best of the "worst". Most of the polls and posts I've read have Brooke pegged to go home this week, but she's only slightly behind Jason, and some say Sayesha should go, but surprisingly, she's actually ahead of both Brooke and Jason in most of the polls.. but not the votenumber1.com poll or AOL.
I hate to say it, but I think this is Brooke's week to go. I don't care that she's emotional and she cries, and I don't even mind that she isn't amazing on everything she sings. She's not singing her own type of songs. She's not up there doing her own thing and being allowed to be who she is, a folk singer/songwriter type..she's Carly Simon and Carol King and maybe Joni Mitchell...she's not Kelly Clarkson, and that's why she's not wowing a lot of people, and she's not the best one in this competition. She has a great style and a great voice, but she's overshadowed here. She'll do fine once she's on her own and allowed to be who she is. Even Carly Simon is voting for her!
The same thing applies to Jason. He has a laid back, easy style, and he has a really nice voice. it's not a spectacular voice, but it's distinctive. Lots of people love his voice, and love his style, but I think a lot of people are turned off by the dreadlocks. It doesn't hurt that he has the prettiest, sexiest eyes and smile, and a sweet, sexy charm that makes ya wanna..err.. well, that's another article altogether, and he's waaaay too young for me. LOL I think he may have another week left, if the polls can be believed.
Sayesha has escaped the boot several times already, and she has been getting better and better. I still don't know that she has the fan support that Jason and Brooke have, but a lot of people are beginning to take note of her. She's been stepping it up the past few weeks, and it may pay off for her. She has a more mainstream style and popstar, marketable voice..she'd do very well in concerts or on Broadway. Actually, I can see her more on a Broadway stage than selling out concerts, so maybe she'll find a home for herself there when this is done. She wouldn't be the first AI alum who went that route. It's hard to say if she has picked up enough momentum to survive and escape going home tonight or not.
So, all this being said, there's really no hard and fast way to guess what the outcome of tonight's show will be. David Cook will be safe, and is 99.8% sure to be winner in the end... but who will take second place is still pretty dicey. I would venture to say that we're probably looking at Brooke going home tonight, based on my opinion and the opinions of those I've read today. but, it could just as eaily be Jason or Syesha, after all, nobody saw Carly or Michael Johns leaving before Brooke and Jason.. so anything could happen...with Votefortheworst.com or whatever it's called backing Brooke, she very well may be saved, in which case Jason should be going, but if Sayesha's fans leave her hanging again, it very well could be her that goes.. or..we could have another complete upset and David A's fans could all get sent to bed early, and another shocker result could send him home. We've got a true anything could happen situation here, and we'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out.

I hadn't paid too much attention to David Cook, but after last night, I could see either him or Archuleta winning it all.
So, do you have any feelings about the World Series? Super Bowl? lol
