The first giftcard I cashed out for (and only one, because I went to the cash option after that), was a $50 Home Depot gift card. I've been saving it for a while now in anticipation of spending it on my garden this year. I have most of my garden on a riased bed, with a few plants spread out in my flower garden!

This year I'm growing cherry tomatoes,
some sugar snap peas (which will be replaced with green beans soon, but in the meantime I'm enjoying eating them straight off of the vine!),
bell peppers (not pictured), and various squashes and melons. This year I'm putting these rings of plastic (from 2 L and 20 oz coke bottles) around my squashes and melons in hopes of preventing getting cutworms. I don't use any pesticides, and I've heard this works! I'll also be spreading some wood ash around in my garden .
I had some money left over, so I let my husband get some items for his pond and i got this:
If you aren't familiar with it, it's confederate jasmine and smells wonderful! This is a small bush, but it should grow a lot each year. A friend of mine has a fence covered with it - the smell is amazing! I also got some Columbine and another plant, maybe I'll show pictures of them later.
I also grow a lot of herbs, although I already had them and didn't use my giftcard to get them. I grow mint, oregano, basil, and rosemary.
Thanks for checking out my garden!

Thanks so much for posting this to

The mint is wonderful in iced tea too!
I love sugar snap peas - i just grab a few and eat them throughout the day.
Our cherry tomatoes are producing really well and the BF says they taste great. The plant looks totally straggly though-it's Florida for you - what can I say?
I really want to grow some sugar snap peas, but for here I think it may be too late already, unless I can find an established container plant - not likely. But I will do sugar snap peas - next year. I love the taste and they have lovely vines.
Anyway Amy - looks like you put your GC to good use - everything looks absolutely great - good luck with your garden. I will look forward to the progression.

I'll also be sprinkling wood ash on my garden - that is supposed to help also.
One thing about a garden, with produce prices what they are now, it pays for itself. and of course the stuff at the grocery is never as fresh as what you can grow yourself.
It was also featured on Gather:Food... I'm so excited!
(Thanks for participating in the "Name Him & Win" contest. Keep those names coming.)
Enjoy all of the "fruits" of your labor - LOL
